Real good job, only thing I'd like to change is to make the hole bigger, going smaller and smaller all the way down to the other side, using a plug somewhere in the middle of it. That makes it easier to pack for a long use. But I can see how that's harder to achieve, also I am used to the Indian Chillums and have never made my own! Really nice video and work anyways.
@steveshaw18899 жыл бұрын
fantastic job, thanks for posting this video. Been using Chillums since the 60's. they used to be everywhere available at the headshops, wooden, clay, alabaster and other materials, now they are pretty rare, but a great way to smoke your favorite burning stuff. still have a few left from India, soapstone, wooden with meershaum insert...nice ones...old friends...

Please don't, the chanupa is a sacred pipe with a lot of meaning behind it. It's not meant for smoking recreationally, it's to be used for ceremonial purposes only
@dontcoofonme7858 жыл бұрын
+Ohkwari Tatu I wouldn't be using it for everyday recreational use. I would only be using it at special occasions. Probably around a fire pit or something like that. I understand that there is meaning behind the pipe and it's use. The pipe I will be making would be in the style of one, not actually be one. Not trying to disrespect anyone or their traditions. Just thought it would be good for making memories and forming bonds between people. ✌

You can cut a truncated cone to length - for capacity - six-sided, for airflow, as a stone - assuming a conical airway. I hope that makes sense. I had a big clay one like that, until I dropped and broke it, but three decades later, so not so bad. A carrot or potato could do, if necessary. Coughing down it could be exciting. Amazing dope tales! My generation's war stories, but funnier. Your video sparked memories that have put a big :) on my face, so thank you for that.

I don't have a drill press though, I only have a hand held saw and a table saw for wood with a concrete blade and a dremel with short bits. I don't want to spend hundreds since I haven't moved yet, any ideas or advice as to how I could bore through a stone about 4 to 6 inches? Any advice or products for a dremel are appreciated and welcome

Hi, very nice and relaxing video, the final result is impressive. I had a friend that was making them with clay, had a small one myself for personal use and a huge one (a good 25/30 cm) for after dinner with friends. Somehow they are quite common in Italy, never seen one outside (but frankly it's not something you get out while having a coffee...).

Where'd you get the large chunk of Catlinite? Surely North America isn't the only place this stuff occurs. There is usually at least two main geographical locations that a natural mineral or rock appears on Earth. "Usually"... Like Novaculite, it oocurs in only two known places. One I live in and the other in the opposite hemisphere. But it makes some of the best arrowheads and spearheads that is the most beautiful on planet Earth.

Vojta Borůvka because the pipe needs the oil of the hash to keep clean try smoking weed in the pipe and yes will get high but the pipe will stink like ashtray after and can not be used very long smoke hash (charraz is the best for this pipe) with tabacco and you can keep the pipe for years clean with water only dont remove the oil inside pipe using chemicals the oil is good for the stone

What are some easy stones to practice this on? Is catlinite a fairly easy stone to work with as far as brittleness when cutting or drilling?

+noah carroll alabaster is a very nice stone to work with. its soft enough to use normal steel tools with (though i suest carbide if you have them as alabaster has a great dulling effect on blades) and polishes up beautifully. it can be found in a surprising range of colors and isn't terribly expensive
