That's a 2005, in 05 they kept the 02-04 shift display. In 06+ they changed the shift display to letters.

Mercedes Benz was an engineering first company. Durability, reliability, and usability were attributes Mercedes took into consideration. The new Mercedes are now a fashion and status symbol. I would say Toyota/Lexus has taken place of what Mercedes once stood for.

Picked up a 2006 VUE AWD with the Honda V6 . I purchased it 3 years ago .. had 32,000 miles on it.. It now has 59,000 miles .. our daily driver…plenty of pep , decent gas mileage..

If this is the best car...I would not like to see the worst. I had to drive 1,5 mio mi in Mercs - all types. These 123s not only once tried to kill me ( blocked steering - lock in a bend, total eclipse of all headlamps on a nightly motorway...) I would not even get into one of them any more. Not even for money...Please allow me to privately drive Borgward - as I did during the last 45 years. I could write an encyclopedia about horrible experiences with " Mercedes - Benz ".

When I was in high school, my German-born father finally got his dream-- a 2 year old 1988 260E. He initially bought it mostly because it was cheaper than the new Buick he was looking at, but it took maybe all of a day for it to become his baby. And the whole design of it just kinda blew us away; my Mom was not pleased at Dad's impulse purchase, but I distinctly remember talking with her about 6 months after he bought it. The line from that conversation that's burned intro my memory is :If your father wrecks that thing, I'm going to *make* him buy another one!" Well, for the single impulse purchase I can ever remember Dad making, he did pretty well. I turn 49 in a few weeks.... .. and the car turned 36 in February. It's still my daily driver, and reliable as hell. It still runs beautifully, and I just love it to death. It's honestly spoiled me for any other car. I fully expect it to outlive me at this point.
