Gravettian bone huts were probably not huts but some sort of altars.

Thank you. I had so many dna matches from this area and time, that I wondered what on earth was going on. Now I know more.

For what its worth of the physique section, those fighters in no way weigh that amount. They are massively food deprived and dehydrated due to weight cutting. In reality those physiques you showed as examples are closer to 185lbs, much heavier than the Gravettian men. Those Gravettian guys would've been extremely slender by the standards of today.

Like I said on screen they fight in 155, they'll usually fight between 165 - 175. Weights for prehistoric people can only be estimates and of course weight will fluctuate due to hydration and food volume etc. But the Gravettians were also strong as well as lean, like professional sportsmen today.

Since hunger was a regular thing and most people were very thin - If you had a fat wife it was a statement and demonstration of how good you are as a provider/hunter. The fat woman was revered as someone who will live for years and is comfortable while most had short lives and struggled to survive.

I would think they were people that already lived and some body brought the pottery hear and the locals copied it I don’t think We were Invaded by anyone ,a lot of these thing like pottery and bronze smelting and farming were just copied from one lot of people to another.

No, definitely not, we know through genetics that the people were largely replaced by newcomers who brought their material culture with them.

The removal of organic remains from tombs reminds me that a century from now, archeologists will be horrified by the things that we are doing now, but i guess this can't be helped. I'm also curious as to why rib ingots were shaped the way they were. I couldn't find information about this on the internet. I assume it had something to do with how they were produced.

you go from hunting to herding, you use your herd animals as pack animals, you use them to pull a sledge, then the wheel evolves ... and now think of children, put them on an sledge or on the animal to transport them over distance, or they hop on that animals anyway if the animals are used to people, you have a big dog at home and your little boy may even take a ride on him :-) the children playing with animals ... for me it's the key ... big old warrior is going on food - youngsters with slingshots may be riding on animals, crazy teenagers :-)

I’m surprised there was no mention of the Venus figurines possibly being the earliest form of pornography. Imagine a group of men go out on a long hunting trip. A dude might get a little lonely at night and carved that to uhhh. You know.

I have no idea why you insist on harping on "social inequalities" among cave people, or why the hell any of them would care. I guarantee that in their society, someone who complained that much would find himself out to sea on an ice flow.

Has anyone considered that these sea peoples may be veterans from the army and navy of Greek king during the Trojan war? The sea peoples arrived right as the Trojan war was meant to end. These young men, who've known only war know that fame and fortune lay in treasure, attacking those nations who do not have a treaty with the Greeks.

And the thick Liebour supporters will always support the Liebour party, but still complain about the mass invasion of the illegal economic migrants but always vote for them because they have always voted for them. It's like groundhog Day with them they will always vote red regardless of what the MPs think of them FYI they think they are thick as 🐷💩they treat them this way until it's a general election.

Unrelated to the video topic but more the sponsor. I recently found out my mother has about 50% Channel Islands ancestry. As an American this came as a bit of a surprise. We still don’t even know what part specifically it comes from. But that’s what the DNA test said. Maybe I should make the pilgrimage sometime. Finally meet my long lost cousins across the sea.

Małogoszcz written mistakenly as MAŁA GOSZCZ Known for much more modern history. I have been thinking why it was put here but nearby caves called Jaskinia Raj and one I've forgotten the name (Łokietek cave?) came to my mind. These two are known for existence of prehistoric humans ovwr there. Małogoszcz and Łopuszno bear traces of people of very old crude cultures. My family lands traced back at least to Middle Ages.

Great program. For reference sake- what was going on at that time in other parts of the world? What other cultures are we aware of? As for Venus figures, I think that's just a visualization of Mother of Mankind and broader humanity .Mother of that many children will look like that in later life but at the same time it will be imagined in different ways. That cult still exist in form of Virgin Mary.

This was my first video of yours that I've seen. I cant believe I'm just now finding this channel. I love learning about such things. I'm no professor or academic scholar of any kind. I'm just a fella thats always been intrigued by our prehistoric ancestors. Learning how people lived in a time before time. I like to think it's possible that one of those sets of bones was a great X (however many generations) grandfather or mother. We all had to come from some survivor of these time periods. Well survive long enough to give birth at least. Anyway I really enjoyed this one and I'll be hitting that subscription button.

The Venus of Willendorf and others like that seem to represent the bodies of women who have already born children and have now entered their post bearing era of life. Perhaps the different shapes of the statues represent the maiden, mother, crone aspects of woman

Women and bears similarity. Pack the food on "heavy" in the spring and summer to sustain the women during pregnancy and child carrying during the lean times, during winter months for a successful child birth next spring. They did what the animals did, and reflected it in their art.
