Oh my goodness! I was buying many kinmono/obi goods years ago and it is now that i notice that IchiroYa had youtube videos from 15 years ago! I will check out these videos; there's one about the obi fabrics (natural silk, wool, linen, cotton or polyester?)👍 👘

10 years ago I used this video to practice wearing Yukata for my japanese class in high school. Since then I have been lucky enough to wear one in Japan and tie it myself! My favorite compliment was someone asked if my obi bow was a clip-on because it looked so nice!

This is my go-to-video for putting on my obi, or showing others how it is done. So simple, so elegant. :-)

Just beautiful but I would feel Claustrophobic wearing all those layers and ties. Also not being able to stride walk and only totter would frustrate me I think. I wonder if it gets some used to wearing it. Also It must be very hot wearing that in summer. Geisha are amazing for sure.

I bought 2 obi from them and I am soooooooo excited to get them. I have been researching and collecting pieces for about a year and I finally have a full ensemble. My friends and I are going to dress and go to a local tea shop for tea tomorrow.

Is Kawari another word for nagoya obi? It looks very similar. Also, I have never seen an otaiko knot tied like this, but i like the method, it looks easier than some of the other methods ove seen.

It sorta defeats the purpose of wearing one. You don't really see kimono hemlines dropping and sweeping the floor unless it's a geisha.

is it necessary to pull the robe up and then wrap it? or can we just wrap it and leave it long. i love wearing long robes, dresses, gowns etc Im use to wearing them long. Im also use to wearing things that limit my strides (etc hobble skirts)

"Leftover rice" will for all eternity mean "left over right" to me. Well done, Madam! I just hope I'm never gonna try to eat somebody's Yukata. That would be really weird.

It's practically the same, but you will need a lot of practice, because with a juban all kimonos fit better, especially the collar. Just remember that between the collar and the neck must be a distance of at least three fingers
