Hey man, i've got the mk2 style CE2 power mirror harness i got from you. I am trying to figure out the wiring, i have power recaro bases, power windows, and central locking - so all my Y spots on the fusebox are taken up. Where do i hook up the red power plug on the mk2 ce2 harness if all my Y plugs are taken up? is there some sort of splitter available?

@restodesignsnando thank you for this help video. A couple of questions if you don’t mind answering (I’m been following your instructions and just about to do up the lash), 1) is it definitely ok to turn the engine manually on the cam pulley, as I have read elsewhere that it should be turned on the crank only… but it is more time consuming as you have to remove the wheel and mudguard and the serpentine pulley… 2) I’m worried about fuel/ oil having dropped down and whether this might hydrolock the engine. Has this ever happened to you?

Yes it's more or less the same gearbox, well you can remove the drive flange, oil will fall out and you will need to get a new seal kit to reseal the centre part.

Hello mate, any idea where to source a premade downpipe for that setup? I know that with a modern 8v exhaust manifold you can fit a corrado downpipe and its plug and play because the modern 8v have the exists in the Middle like the original mk1 GTI, but those manifolds the exit is a little bit to the left.
@RestoDesignsnando8 күн бұрын
Hi, unfortunately no, in this project the owner has order a mk1 4-2-1 exhaust manifold due to that issue and using the 020 gearbox and linkage.
@Mario_Marques8 күн бұрын
@RestoDesignsnando I am aware of the issues with the gearbox linkage, but about that, you can solve it with a short shift kit, Techtonics tuning sells a downpipe that is plug and play on that exhaust manifold, but its only available in US. If you use the modern 8v manifolds, from new beetle and others, the exit is in the Middle and you can Bolt on the Corrado downpipe, it also has a place to install the O2 sensor and its a quite good manifold(I have tested One once), its tubular made and has good design runners.

I don't understand the role of the blue and black wire and where it should be connected more precisely. You say that it is the diagnosis wire, on other schemes on different forums it says that (it is connected to a 7.5A fuse and to 75 switched power which in turn I don't know what is it or where) I know it's been a while since you did the retrofit, but maybe you remember how it should be done more precisely, or if you had subsequent problems with your method. thank you

About the brake pressure regulation of the rear axle ?
@RestoDesignsnando27 күн бұрын
Yes these early ABS cars have the rear brake bias valve like non ABS rear disc cars, goes to show VW didn't trust the system fully, even the ABS that came after this one, in the early 93 Golf mk3's still have the rear bias valve and the ECU under the rear seat or on the front passenger floor.
@porsche91123526 күн бұрын
@RestoDesignsnando This LHD ABS system works with 3 brake lines, 2 fronts, 1 rear. In your conversion to booster brake, I was wondering if you went with 2 brake lines under the car to the rear load regulator, or just one, because I did have some balance issue back in the day with just one line, despite setting up the spring.
@RestoDesignsnando26 күн бұрын
@@porsche911235 ok yes I left it with one line going to the rear, I can't see why you would have had an issue.

@RestoDesignsnando I’m just sharing my experience. ABS deleted on my G60 for track use, I did pass Belgium MOT with flying colours back then, but the efficiency of the brakes was poor and we found out the DOT was very quickly too hot. By adding the second rear line the problem was solved.

Would you happen to know if the 2005 Golf TDI 4-door hatchback has rear drains? We cleared the front sunroof drains but can't find where the rear drains drain out. Behind the bumper maybe? @RestoDesignsnando My repair shop just told me the sunroof tray itself is leaking, one drain was clogged too but that was dealt with. They said the tray itself isn't able to be repaired. Not sure if it's because the crack is in a place where plastic is or maybe because they didn't unscrew it like you did so they couldn't see exactly where it's leaking from. Said the only way to fix it is to either replace it or seal it shut with poly-something caulk. The second option is sounding good financially. Can you foresee anything bad coming from doing that? We don't care to use the sunroof.. wish we didn't have one at all to be honest. Thx!
@RestoDesignsnandoАй бұрын
@@missesmada11 I guess if you are not using the sunroof and from a cost point of view, then sealing it up is the best opinion, but the sealant will leak over time, cold weather, hot sun, rain and the roof/body flex that a car normally has, look for a good all weather flex sealant.
