I've gone the opposite route of you - getting the 3d scanner for the preservation / modification / reproduction of mk4 parts first, and haven't yet gotten a 3d printer. Quite interested in the mentioned separate video for the scanner! So, I've adjusted my subscription settings to catch all videos by ringing the Bell, flicking the switch, twisting the knob, pressing the pedal, and rubbing my tummy whilst simultaneously patting my head, and turning around in one spot, as per KZbin's ridiculous requirements.

haha thanks, yes I still haven't gotten round to even unbox the scanner, waiting on a phone upgrade first plus just getting me head around using cad software and the whole world of slicer settings 🤯

I am a lot like you when it comes to technology, I need to catch up with the times and learn how to get the 3D printer and laser engraver that I have been increasingly wanting. There are a million ideas in my head but I need to learn some new skills to make it a reality. Thanks again for the video upload, it's always a joy to watch whatever you create. I got the GTD airbox a couple days ago, thanks for everything.

Injector line clips would be a great one to make been obsolete and if you can get them always very brittle I need a set that holds the injectors across the front of manifold. Looking forward to having at cabin filter for RHD. 👊

I'd love to see you coming out with some BBS center caps or some emblems for the Golf. They're a pain in the *wallet* to find nowadays. Would these plastic parts resist being exposed to the weather?
@RestoDesignsnando

Thanks but, baby steps at the moment, yes the filament I've got for will be sun and weather resist.

@@RestoDesignsnando if you do persue this, look into UV-resistant clear epoxy as a pour-over cap. Might take some research, or test parts artifically aged under UV light to test, but I'm sure you could find the right combination of materials.

You don't want the glass on top if youre not printing something that needs a heated chamber or you might run into issues.
@RestoDesignsnando
@RestoDesignsnando Жыл бұрын
OK good to know, so I take it all depends on the filament right?
@ajciccone88
@ajciccone88 Жыл бұрын
@@RestoDesignsnando yes sir. For things like pla,petg,tpu you don't want it. ASA/ABS/Nylon you will. I've seen people try printing pla with the glass on top had issues and blamed the printer. So just something to be aware of. You'll get the hang of it I'm sure if you watch enough videos or read enough online. Happy printing!

@@ajciccone88 ok thank you, that could be one of the issues I'm having with the tests as it's PLA, the main car bits once I stop playing around will be ASA and ABS.

Having had 3D printer since 2014 these things are designed to work please do not DRILL any holes in your new 3D printer. Most likely your just not doing something correctly. Slow down and take it step by step off camera and try again.

hahaha ok I hear you👍🏼 thanks for your commet on this, it's just the amont of angles that the nylon hose has to twist around its no surprise that there is loads of fricion on the filament to the point the gear can't pull in though.
@MrDonXX
@MrDonXX Жыл бұрын
@@RestoDesignsnando That hose tubing is made of pure PTFE that has been treated with a special additive to reduce friction. It made just for this purpose. Make sure when use Nylon there is no special loading instructions. Some 3D printers you need to do some other prep before using such filaments.

I really it’s bit after the fact now, but just starting out in 3D printing, I’d have strongly recommended a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon with the AMS. The combo costs a good bit more than the Creality , but for newb, it by and large *just works*. I’m sure you’ll get through things just fine with the Creality, but the X1C was what transformed 3D printing from a project into a tool for me. (I have no relationship with BambuLab, I’m just an extremely happy user of ~2 years now 😁)

The p1s is way better value. Most people will not put that much on a 3d printer
@RestoDesignsnando

Thanks for your input and comment 👍🏼 I 100% looked into the Bambu 3D printer, the only reason I don't go with Bambu was due to the small build size which I though would be a bit limiting for some car parts.

@@RestoDesignsnando I think it is well compensated by its speed. 256*256*256 isn't that tiny but yeah depends on the parts.
@DaveBuildsThings

@RestoDesignsnando The Bambu Lab P1S is the same as the P1P other than the full enclosure, cooling fan for the bed and some other features. The X1 Carbon has a lidar sensor for first layer print detection where the P series doesn't. @EtchellsFamily I had an ANET ET-4 for three years and hated every second of trying to print on it. The bed leveling system on it REALLY sucked. But it was all I could afford at the time and of course I didn't know any better. Fast forward to today and I got my Bambu Lab P1S a few months ago. Right out of the box I was printing things I never thought could be possible or at the speeds this thing achieves. Now I spend more time designing and printing than screwing with the printer itself. As for bed size, if you get creative with your designs, you can make parts in smaller sections that interconnect to each other so that in the end, you end up with a larger scale model than you could print otherwise. I do that all the time.
