I clean it thoroughly every single day but it takes them two seconds to make a mess and have it look like it hasn’t been cleaned in a week. Parrots and cats are a messy mix of love.❤

@@Dreamworld986 typically in the foster world there is no “should or shouldn’t“… I have a handicap kitty and his name is Wilson and you can see videos of him when he was a baby through now. He has cerebellum hypoplasia and so he can’t go in a normal litter box. Mostly I have the little robots, but they are too big for the bathroom and he can’t go in the little robot so that litter box is the only one he can climb into. It’s such a heartbreaking disability, but he seems to navigate it just fine.

If you get a bird it's your responsibility to provide adequate care Care is not getting it a "friend" so they can both go without proper socialization and become aggressive towards each other. It happens all the time because some people are too lazy to socialize their bird and do exactly as you suggested. It's baffling to me how you don't see what's wrong with your comment. Truly. I hope maybe you can reflect and learn from this.

@ yeah, you see that cut your care time in half. And if you need to work for a living, the companion can keep it company., unless of course you’re insensitive to those things you see, it almost writes itself

@johnjeffreys6440 I seriously hope you don't have any children or pets with such a dangerous mindset. I'd be worried for their safety. Tell me, does one hire toddlers to watch other toddlers? These parrots are cognitively on par with 5 year olds. Mine can recite the planets in our solar system. Giving him a friend does not substitute proper social interaction and your opinion has caused needless suffering on parrots untold for as long as we've kept them in our homes. Do better.

I foster and rescue cats. Kittens and adults as well. Thirston was here first and the cats came after slowly. Somehow they intuitively know he’s not a regular bird and because Thirston talks they get confused by that and I believe they would never hurt him. He’s 20 years old and somehow he has a magical relationship with each and every foster. Two of my fosters are feral cats that no one can touch or get near. They were horribly abused and lived outside as predators of birds and yet here they love him. It’s very interesting to watch. There’s tons of videos with all the different kitties. They only stay here for a little while and then they get adopted and new ones come in . I’ve only had one kitty that was unable to stay because I didn’t trust that Thirston would be 100% safe. It’s as if he knows they came from heartbreak. Greys are wonderful and intuitive. It’s so incredible how they know what you’re thinking seconds before you get up to do something or leave the room or whatever it is somehow they know. I think you would love having a grey if you have the time to spend they are awesome. They are extremely messy so sometimes they get really mean comments about my house being messy but literally he throws food and knocks stuff off the counters and he just loves it so much. I clean every night when he goes to bed but the next day he’ll make the same mess again, so it is a lot of work. You can teach your cats not to hurt them if you get one. You could also find a rescue at a bird sanctuary that was raised around cats and that would probably help make things easier.

not necessarily. I used to have birds as well as cats and dogs, never a problem. My cat would still go after outdoor cats, but they're not idiots. They can learn family from food.

Funny how some people think all cats or all dogs behave the same way. Some are psycho and some aren't. One size doesn't fit all. But hey, guess having a cat is worth risking the African grey (?).
