Geen bereik en storingsgevoelig . Een diesel op GTL is storingsvrij en beter voor het milieu. Kost ook maar een fractie.

I am interested in adding the JC20 control system and a new Vetus bowpro thruster to my twin Yanmar 4lv250 straight shaft drive boat, but can't find any information about support, parts availability, and pricing. Who can I contact for more information? Thank you.

We electrified our Silverton 34C two years ago with two 10Kw Motenergy motors. Two camps: 1) we are crazy, the boat can't go more than 10 miles, so why? and 2) I'm tired of paying thousands of dollars to maintain engines when I only leave the dock a few times a season for booze or sunset cruises. For any distance, gas burning is better. For our use in the bays of New Jersey, electric is great, short distances and ZERO maintenance. Literally "switch on and go" and the low-end torque makes maneuvering in the marina super easy: you can go full forward to full reverse with the flick of the throttle, spin the props at 5 RPM if you want to. Batteries are getting cheaper and better and the motors too. Version 2.0 of our conversion will have a lot more storage and HP, but we're not there yet...

Where when and how do I veiw this setup in person? Doing the same thing in two boats but in a different way. I'm still looking at more options like you have in your boat.

I'm wondering why the test was run backwards on inlet & outlet ports? It's really making me contemplate how good the water lock is actually working! It's showing water then exhaust running in a direction where the whole objective of this design is defeated!.. Confused

My 168F air cooled diesel motor charges batteries while yours depletes them. It's 44 LBS and $209 plus hardware, so electric is a hard fit.

i never hear of "Glow Plugs" being used in marine deisel engines. I have contacted a few narrowboat owners in England and they don't seem to be knowledgable of these plugs. In Canada they appear on all deisel engines due to our winters. Am I missing something or do these plugs just don't exist in marine engines?
@colonelfustercluck4866 ай бұрын
Hi Markrant1...... glow plugs all over the place, particularly automotive, in New Zealand.... which can get seriously below freezing in the southern areas. ON You tube, a lot of the English narrow boat owners have other tricks, like the spray of ether up the air intake, actually lighting a fire in the air intake (a rag with diesel) to increase compression.... we are talking about a little old fashioned, and possibly risky, here. I am sure modern enough marine diesels would have glow plugs for those very cold situations. OR alternative methods for a very cold start, in their operation manual.

Good demonstration of how a reversing gear works, but not really a "how to fix". The only "how to fix" they offer is to turn your prop shaft by hand. In the real world, that doesn't always, in fact I'd say rarely works, especially if there's a serious problem. They don't go anywhere near all of the other problems there could be, nor show real examples. Hence, I'd say, a little misleading title. I'll send you a totally siezed gearbox to try doing the same with!

Also, I don't think it applies to direct drive gearboxes.

Is it okay to remove the internal part of the valve on the legacy product similar to the demonstration here with the newer valve? The vent tube runs to a small through hull above the water line, so no worries about filing the bilge.
