Ah ha, now i can finish mine. Thanks for the last part of my puzzle, i have been wondering how to stop the possibility of a heal through the deck. But you showed me your secret, and i must thankyou for that split second. I should have my first one finally finished soon. 🤙

@@DeepCreekTV cool, so is it a two part urethane ? Also is it best to use epoxy to glue it up, or is the gorilla glue the stuff to use ?
@DeepCreekTV11 күн бұрын
@@aaronhopkins6697 yeah I used Gorilla glue (or similar polyurethane expandable glue) to join pieces after chambering.... but the foam that I used inside to fill the voids was that spray expandable foam but don't use that stuff as I found if you get a leak it will absorb the water and makes it really hard to drain. Plugs, boxes and nose/tail tips I use epoxy putty, plus this board has an oil/wax finish. ✌🏼🙂
@aaronhopkins669711 күн бұрын
@DeepCreekTV awesome 🤙. I was thinking of doing ten millimetre deck , and six mill on the bottom and not filling it with anything. Just offset the chambers, also thanks for your idea on the long chambers as mine were only around eight inches each but I love the idea of having them longer to take out that extra weight. When I got to the stage I'm at with mine now , I started having a weird recurring dream that when I put it in the water and started paddling out, the board went like soggy cardboard, and then just all fell apart as I got to everyone in the line-up. But your video has reinvigorated me to get it out and finish it off. Green love from Queensland Australia 💚🌲🌏🤙

Ive been watching your videos for about 8 years now! I've had plans to woodwrap a PU board I made back in 1996, gonna give the 9'6" "SeaCow" a diet and resurrect it following notes taken from all of your wood over foam videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience building these mate, your info is going to put me 10 years ahead of myself. Your bushman wood working skills set you apart from everyone else and apply to surf culture here in California. I'd like to see how you make the beads and curves on the paulownia pieces. Seems your mining videos get a lot of views too! Much appreciation from me.

Thank you for your kind feedback 🙂 I'm glad you can get something from my vids. I usually get a timber machinery guy to cut the bead and coves and you only need to do this for the deck, the bottoms fine as it doesn't have the roll. Cheers ✌🏼🙂

Sick board. I've had the exact same issue with the noses on my wood veneered boards. My solution was to glue in a strip of cedar cross wise about 6" from the nose. I haven't had that problem since. I also started doing the same thing at the tail so I can epoxy the leash plug into that.

Are those red wood blocks to keep the side strips aligned? How are they constructed? Alignment is often a problem when making curved laminations.
@DeepCreekTV Жыл бұрын
Hi Ronald, the small red cedar blocks are there to save timber. As you probably know if you use one piece for the rail band it needs to be as wide as the rocker or alternatively scarf the rail band to suit, on this board it would need to be about 6-7 inches. So by using the small blocks it reduces the band width down to between 2 to 3.5 inches, helps with the alignment prob you mentioned and they add a bit of colour to the rail. I cut a little angle 2-4° on one end of the bands so they follow the rocker. Hope that makes sense ✌🏼🙂
