Thanks for the comments Spartans, nice to meet a fellow Island angler and ex-ED player. And oh yeah, FD screwed up massively. The train wreck has been interesting to watch, despite being so disappointing. I actually came back to ED after a few years break for Odyssey and the promise of new planetary tech, which I had been waiting on before trying my hand at exploration. Was planning to do some ED vids, but I've given up on FD at this point. @@yakabout I haven't been out fishing yet this season. Just sailing which is always good to do. Yes space engine is amazing. Early access though. Waiting for full release. A lot of ED players are hoping Star citizen will bring back space sims. I wish I could share their optimism. Tight lines. o7

I think that depends on your definition of sports car when comparing the concept to these boats, because in our experience the newer boat out-paced the older one in most but not all circumstances. The stronger the wind, the rougher it gets, and especially if there's more weight on board, the newer model will out-perform the older one. We put this to the test on a few 60+km trips where we had a variety of models to compare directly. We also had years of doing the very same trip using the older models under our belts for reference. As I said in the clip, for what we're doing, the newer model is superior, and not by a little bit. That said, in lower winds we often saw the older one outperform the newer one, especially when the wind is rolling in from behind. I think the biggest advantage the early one has over the new one (apart from reduced bulk and weight) is that the kayak hull performs much better when used as a kayak. Both good boats, pros and cons for both.

Wouldn't use a spinnaker while fishing. But in a downwind they work great

If you manage to get a hook up they'd handle these kind of fish just fine. But they wouldn't be anywhere near as good as an AI for trolling (which is how we hook most of these sort of fish) because they simply can't generate the speed that pelagic fish usually respond better to. In an OB or PA your best strategy would be livebaiting. A Revo 13 or even better Revo 16 would be better bets for trolling, not to mention open water. OB and PA really are better suited to flat water
