that feeling when you’ve been working on a story for over a year and a half but most of the work is dedicated to planning and doing character development and obsessing over characters in your brain and rewriting things you already wrote because now there’s continuity issues and everyone tells you “oakly just fix them in the second draft” but you Can’t Just Move On and your revisions doc now has 2000 more words than your actual story

3:53 This is actually super helpful for me cuz I spend half my pre-writing time picking what to listen to 😅 So, thank you, random citizen!

I’m a young reader/writer. I struggle finishing books so I can’t read bigger books but to me the bigger ones are better. I could read my work as fast as lightning but what if I can’t write it?

enemies to lovers is good only if it is queer and i stand by that. I'm not gonna read a straight enemies to romance where the entire time the girl "hates" him, she is also saying how good looking he is. What i love to read it rivalry and the *confusion* of i hate them but no??? I love it when both of them actually hate each other and have a good reason to; literal fights break out bruised knuckles and split lips or slamming against a wall to punch you then chapters later, slamming you against a wall to kiss you. wow that was a rant

I have an amazing idea for a sci fi- time travel novel. I’m up to the part making all the planets and species because I’m too lazy to do research on existing things. I’m procrastinating.

K SO TIP FOR GETTING RID OF WRITERS BLOCk write smthn about vampires. idgaf if its stupid like twilight, or if it's the most gut-wrenching, heart twisting, eye-watering thing you've ever written. js write abt vampires. it works. or the alternative, pirates. again, it can be stupid or it can be intense idk if this works for anyone other than me, but try it out

2:20 I'm sorry, I have to disagree. I actually don't like the sympathetic villain epidemic. Characters are allowed to have no light, just darkness, simply because that can be very fun to read. In fact, in the project I'm working on now, I've made the deliberate choice to reject the easy "oh their parents died and now they're evil" shtick and just write a woman who is utterly psychotic. I think a villain can be both irredeemably evil and three dimensional at the same time. My go-to example is always Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame; we see the nuances of how his mind works, so he's by no means two dimensional, but good luck trying to tell me there is any light to him.

6:13 Hah! Screw that. I wrote a childhood friends but character A loses their memories so now they're basically strangers. They meet again and they're enemies while character B quietly pining and character A is slowly starting to fall in love with them. Oh, and it's a mafia AU, so they're forced to be partners and learn to trust each other. >:) So, technically its: Childhood friends -> strangers -> enemies -> partners but still enemies -> lovers

Y'all, I hate to admit this, given how much I love writing and aspire to be an author, but I'm writing my second novel, and I feel like I'm not getting the same angsty thrill as before. I love nothing more than to keep talking about how much I love the plot and all of the plot twists, however, actually writing it feels like a chore at times. I can't tell if it's because I've been so busy with school and sports, but even when I'm free, I'm never in the headspace to write. Am I losing my spark? Has this happened to y'all? What's going on?
@Rebel-Blaze4 ай бұрын
This happens to me a lot too and I’m the same but I’m beginning to realise even if you love this idea. Maybe now’s not the time to write it, maybe there will be someday when it gives you that spark but not today. Maybe you have a different story in you that’s there waiting to be told and will give you that spark. When this happens to me, I try a different story idea I have or it may also help to set yourself a simple goal, even fifty words a day may help get back that spark. I believe in you!

I was always a book girlie. I was reading since I can remember and I’ve been writing since 7 but those were like 5 page books that I never published. Now I’m in the process of writing a fantasy book, kudos to those of you that have already wrote one and to the ones trying to write a book, you have my full support and best wishes <3
