First, thanks for watching! Secondly, it's 2". I am using a Rigid brand hose for the actual moving vacuum hose. It ends up being a little too big for the inner diameter of the straight 2" and too small to plug directly into a 2" coupler, that's why I had to make the flared out adapters

Hi, im planning to buy this bag, do you think the base panel will fall off if i carry weight too much? I believe it says around 70lbs. My tools are gonna be wrenches, pliers, some other tools. Thank you.

So far nothing on mine has loosened even a little. It's been very sturdy. And, overall, I haven't treated mine lightly, so I feel pretty confident in it. It's held up really well.

How can you clean these without scratching them?
@theeverydaymakers
@theeverydaymakers 2 ай бұрын
So far they seem to have held up just cleaning with a paper towel and a bit of water, but they definitely will show over time. I see a replacement pair of them eventually in my future, but for now, a couple years in, they're still holding up fairly scratch free

Could you put the PVC in boiling temp water to soften it up?
@theeverydaymakers
@theeverydaymakers 4 ай бұрын
I haven't done it, but I don't see why not. You'd just have to make sure not to submerge the whole thing, as you'd want that un-stretched portions to remain as round as possible. I'll have to give it a shot, though. Thanks!

My shop is DEFINITELY next-level cluttered. One of the hazards of running multiple small businesses out of a one-stall garage. It's very much on my near life-plan to clean it, though. :D Thanks for watching!

A few suggestions, and suggestions are all they are. To combat snipe cut your boards longer then you need and cut the snipe end off. You get a lil waste but a much better end project. And on your glue ups, make a 90 degree jig to build in and use two loose boards on the other ends to clamp. Itll clean up your lines throughout the board. Make em more parallel. Other then that fantastic work man. I love the concept.

How are you happy with these goggles? I bought 2 of them. The clear and the dark lenses. Both of them fog up within 5 minutes of wearing them.
@theeverydaymakers
@theeverydaymakers 10 ай бұрын
I'm guessing it comes down to a lot of factors. Head shape, humidity, etc. Both of us have been lucky with them, but definitely can see where you're coming from with your experiences. When it comes to goggles of any sort, there's very much still gotta be a perfect pair out there somewhere

PVC contains some really bad chemicals right? Don’t know if they are released by heating but I think I heard something about not laser cutting it without good ventilation
@theeverydaymakers

I definitely would not recommend heating too much of it in an enclosed space. That is very true. I'm not a scientist or anything, but better safe than sorry, I agree.

I'm glad you found it helpful, thanks for the watch and comment! And yes, that was part of this particular project was just figuring out a way to make everything work without spending a million bucks or taking up the whole garage with piping. And the best part is it's easily expandable as your needs grow and change. Good luck with your system!
@johnsilos3804

@@theeverydaymakers thank you! I picked up a dustopper and I'm planning out how I want to set things up. I like the idea of having a hose to clean the bench off with, without having to take the one of the saw- so thinking a y pipe to a blast gate for that. How did you wire the light switch up for the saw? A plug coming from a wall, to the switch (where it can be turned on/off) to the power strip that's always on?
@cchladny
@cchladny Жыл бұрын
@@johnsilos3804 the saw is just hooked up to a power strip on the back of my work bench. I just have the remote switch box for the vacuum. It's just, basically, an extension cord to a switch, to an outlet, then the outlet into the vacuum. It's amazingly low-tech, but works well.

Another maker uses an oven to heat the PVC and it saves standing there with a heat gun for ten minutes every time. But I’d be careful about ventilation either way. Thanks for the useful and practical video!
@theeverydaymakers
@theeverydaymakers Жыл бұрын
Definitely not a bad idea. Part of my reasoning is I can heat the part I want to soften while still retaining the structure of the side I don't want to change, allowing me to be more physical with it when stretching it around the hose ends. But yeah, an oven/toaster-oven isn't a bad idea at all. Thanks for the idea!

How do you still have your fingers? Even at regular speed...1/2 inch is close to that blade! I learned a lot watching you.
@theeverydaymakers
@theeverydaymakers Жыл бұрын
My fingers rarely get near the throat plate. From the angle it looks closer than it really is. I'm not a big push stick guy, even though I probably should be, but I tend to grab the back of the piece behind the blade and pull it through when it gets to the point so I'm out of kickback range, should something go wrong. I need to do a few top-down shots to give a better view so I don't look like as much of a dare devil. :)

If your tape measure keeps slouching down into the pocket put a drill bit set/box in the pocket behind it and it will have something to bear up against. Thanks for the review man!!
@theeverydaymakers

That's very true. Everything I've ever had that had a tape measure hook always had a hard backing on it, so this one is a little unusual for me, but that's a really solid idea that I'm definitely gonna have to make that change. Thank ya! :)

I use 1-2-3 blocks all over the place, from holding down paper patterns to calibrating 3D printers. Bluing your blocks is a great idea! I soaked mine in Evaporust. Not the greatest finish, but no rust. Any chelating agent would probably work, follow it up with a light coat of paste wax.
