I don't have any problems communicating with other people at any level..but have in the past been vocalised as a snob!? Why? Could it be I was brought up in a differing dialect in an area close to a city, by intelligent parents whom didn't mind whom we became friends with as long as we knew they could be relied upon to be friends. Moved to another area 40 odd years ago and discovered after all this time of having raised and schooled children in this community and worked and payed taxes in it and developed friendships and relationships without any offence whatsoever, apart from recently...whereas I have been referred to as an 'Emmet' that should go back home...presuming to place of original birth, as I don't fit in here...why? Well I keep myself to myself and don't do drugs or have wild noisy parties so no I don't fit in then! So just what is an 'Emmet' it's an 'Ant' and we crawl everywhere, block beaches, shops and even places of work! Why? Because we are industrious people and so are 'Ants' so if a name wishes to be used to upset us, make sure it is at least one that is understood and makes an intellectual statement of whom people from these parts are, and what they are not! It's best left alone. And locals brandish it to the folks they least like, for not doing the things they do, which are often illegal and unlawful.. Emmet s the same difference as nigga is to a black man...and name calling of this proportion stopped long ago...Still one has to be clever enough to apprehend a user of this style of verbal as the locals will state they didn't associate its usage with being offensive! Lol a misdemeanour if ever I heard of one!

I am friendly and maybe have boundary issues. Told I look goofy or am goofy forgot which. I am elderly with cognitive issues and memory issues so worse now than ever. During my era maybe there was no help available.

I'm this type of personality type and I'm actually in my first relationship. He's been quite Great with me considering my behavior (unintentionally). I think one of the main things is to be Patient, Understanding, and to NOT Give Up!! (Like seriously, I've tried getting rid of him So Many Times and He's Still Here!! Lol) We don't Mean to be this way!! It's just our defense mechanism; to not only protect ourselves but the person trying to get close to us. I guess we're afraid of how that person will react once they get to know us closely and we feel the need to push them away Before they push Us Away. (We hate feeling neglected or rejected. It feels better when we tell ourselves that it's best to push them away Early rather than wait for them to get too emotional and do it Later. My guy is very patient. Whenever I'm upset, he basically doesn't do or say anything; he let's me blow off steam because he knows that most of the time I'm either upset at something/someone else or overreacting (looking for a Reason to end things or push him farther). After my episode, we'll talk about it and sometimes he'll even act like nothing happened....?? I'm also in therapy and struggling with depression, anxiety, etc. He's also very supportive. Oh and PS: Give us SPACE!! (A Breather; Some Room!!) (Especially if he/she is is also an introvert ; or jut prefers to be alone most of the time) (My guy works all day, so I have a lot of alone time and see him at night.) 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Either way, Don't PUSH!! PLEASE TRY TO UNDERSTAND: We Don't CHOOSE to be like this!! We Want to Change and Be Better but Don't Know HOW. This is all we Know....🤷‍♀️😓 Who knows, you may be THAT one Person who can help him/her Open Up and/or make a Change, even slightly!! We just need help rewiring our Minds that We Can Be Accepted and Our Boundary Wall can Come Down; at least for a little while....😁😁 Good Luck!! & I Hope He/She Can Get Past This Difficult Journey!! 💝💝

My little sister has had SM since Pre-k. She’s in fifth grade now and next year, she’s going to middle school and I’m really worried for her because people in middle school become a whole lot meaner than elementary. One time, some idiot anonymously told the school that my sister was being “bullied” and she was going to bring a gun to school. That was the day I realized how serious my sisters problem was. I always thought that “oh this is probably just a phase she’ll talk at some point” but now I realize this isn’t so easy. She won’t talk to anyone, she would always watch all the other kids on the playground play and laugh and she would sit there.. alone. I feel like crying right that I’m typing this. I hate how people talk to my sister. One time on the bus some kid was asking her questions like “Are you death?” “can you say at least one word” “talk” and I couldn’t take it anymore so I told “Yes she can talk, she just doesn’t want to, and she’s not stupid, just because she doesn’t talk doesn’t mean she doesn’t know what 2 x 4 is okay?” And then when I wasn’t looking he stuck his middle finger at her and asked “do you know what this means?”. The only reason I knew this was because my sister told me. I’m crying so bad because I care about my sister so bad and I don’t want anyone to hurt her. And I hate that I’m not always going to be there for her if I leave. At home, she’s one of the most caring and funniest and coolest person I know. I hope one day she can speak up and learn how to defend herself ❤️

I ❤️you SCD people. You are bringers of truth and honest relationship while elevating others like an English teacher. You call out society: you’re darn right it is raining water and not cats or dogs! Do they even know why or what they are saying? Maybe they have a worse disorder. Would rather be friends with you! But please, do not do to others what you wouldn't like done around yourself like high volume in the library where people are reading.😉

When I was 6 or 7 I wouldn't talk in class at all, never participate, it was so bad that they called my mom and told her that I don't talk or participate in anything, at the time I didn't understand what was going on, but as I grew up I realised there would be certain situations where I literally couldn't talk and would freeze when somebody asked a question. Now that I'm older I know it's Selective mutism, but since nobody knows it's very hard to deal with, my parents and my brother are always like: "You should go out more", "why are you always so silent?", then when they're talking on the phone with relatives they force me to talk with them which makes my anxiety worse and they know I hate talking on the phone and they still force me to talk to them. I haven't ever gone to therapy since my parents don't know anything but I really want to, hopefully one day I'll get the courage to tell them everything so I can get better.

I say “do” not “have”, as SM is not a disease, it is just a phase! For those who do SM, I know the struggle of this: little kids who won’t stop asking your name, people trying to use sign language, nonstop questions of “Will you talk to me?”, etc. It’s all very akward. I’m in the middle of fixing SM. When I was little I never smiled with friends. Now I smile at random strangers. One time at a party in Kindergarten I was shaking like crazy when I was eating cake only because my teacher was there. Now, I whisper to my whole class and most of my teachers. (This took a whole year) The next step I whispering openly class instead of in people’s ears. Next, talking. 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬 I know what being pressured to talk is like. Same with stepping out of line / doing something wrong (AHHHHHHHH) And when people don’t understand that you don’t want to talk. And when you are the center of attention. People judging you, people asking if it’s because of them, feeling like you are a tiny ant in a world of sky scrapers, feeling stuck in your own head, being on vacation and scanning the room for that one family member you don’t talk to before talking, feeling like you are drowning in a room echoing with loud sounds (like talking). Selective Mutism may be scary, but (if you do it) YOU CAN GET THROUGH THIS!!!!!!!!!

DJMARLEY HYPE maybe you might have something different... I don’t know you or your life but you might have it or you might not. It’s hard realizing that something was always different inside even though you don’t know any different and I’m guessing you feel terrible about it because you don’t know what it means and how it (possibly) affects you. I myself didn’t understand what was it that kept me from having friends or understand something because I didn’t know any different. From the way you write and punctuate I am reminded of how I sometimes write and communicate through text, especially when I was a few years younger, and very very bitter about the world that seemed like it was against me. It’ll get better dude, all it takes is self awareness:)
