I was diagnosed with something similar to this when I was 15 but not as bad as the girl in the video. I don't know how to express emotion in my face, or through words. I used to think I was a sociopath tbh but it's just a communication disorder.

I ❤️you SCD people. You are bringers of truth and honest relationship while elevating others like an English teacher. You call out society: you’re darn right it is raining water and not cats or dogs! Do they even know why or what they are saying? Maybe they have a worse disorder. Would rather be friends with you! But please, do not do to others what you wouldn't like done around yourself like high volume in the library where people are reading.😉

I was diagnosed a few years ago and it just makes me sick. It screwed me up and my mom believes her and I don't and I have to listen to people. I believe that it is made up and I feel terrible about it. I have tried to tell my mom that it is not true and she doesn't listen

DJMARLEY HYPE maybe you might have something different... I don’t know you or your life but you might have it or you might not. It’s hard realizing that something was always different inside even though you don’t know any different and I’m guessing you feel terrible about it because you don’t know what it means and how it (possibly) affects you. I myself didn’t understand what was it that kept me from having friends or understand something because I didn’t know any different. From the way you write and punctuate I am reminded of how I sometimes write and communicate through text, especially when I was a few years younger, and very very bitter about the world that seemed like it was against me. It’ll get better dude, all it takes is self awareness:)

So, would there be stimming behavior such arm flapping for SCD in young children if there are no restrictive/repetitive behaviors? My two year old was given a diagnosis oF ASD but she does not have any restrictive or repetitive behaviors or sensory issues.

I have moderate intellectual disability with social pragmatic communication disorder and feel socially blind. Everyone hates me and I don't know what I do. I am friendly and maybe have boundary issues. Told I look goofy or am goofy forgot which. I am elderly with cognitive issues and memory issues so worse now than ever. During my era maybe there was no help available.

I want to know how many people know someone with this diagnosis. More importantly, I want to know my kid isn't the only one. And, given how frustrating it is that my kid got diagnosed right before the book got printed feeling lost because videos were few and far between, I want other parents to know to keep their faith, that their kid is gonna be awesome, even if there isn't much info on this crazy literal disorder!

I am diagnosed as this and I can't read body language, facial expressions and social situations. But I also have moderate intellectual disability. My big flaw is no abstract ability and can't do math. I can't draw either and cannot picture anything in my head, it's all brown. Weird. Hopes this helps. I didn't understand your post except for a little bit.

I don't have any problems communicating with other people at any level..but have in the past been vocalised as a snob!? Why? Could it be I was brought up in a differing dialect in an area close to a city, by intelligent parents whom didn't mind whom we became friends with as long as we knew they could be relied upon to be friends. Moved to another area 40 odd years ago and discovered after all this time of having raised and schooled children in this community and worked and payed taxes in it and developed friendships and relationships without any offence whatsoever, apart from recently...whereas I have been referred to as an 'Emmet' that should go back home...presuming to place of original birth, as I don't fit in here...why? Well I keep myself to myself and don't do drugs or have wild noisy parties so no I don't fit in then! So just what is an 'Emmet' it's an 'Ant' and we crawl everywhere, block beaches, shops and even places of work! Why? Because we are industrious people and so are 'Ants' so if a name wishes to be used to upset us, make sure it is at least one that is understood and makes an intellectual statement of whom people from these parts are, and what they are not! It's best left alone. And locals brandish it to the folks they least like, for not doing the things they do, which are often illegal and unlawful.. Emmet s the same difference as nigga is to a black man...and name calling of this proportion stopped long ago...Still one has to be clever enough to apprehend a user of this style of verbal as the locals will state they didn't associate its usage with being offensive! Lol a misdemeanour if ever I heard of one!

I think my Child has it😔, .....Social cues/ communicating her thoughts is an issue for sure. What should I do? Can she get therapy or training? Does it get worst with age? I am confused and worried. We just got her report card, she’s above grade in Reading and Math, the other subjects she’s doing well also, meeting expectations for her age.

Shayna W:girl no one knew yet when I was being tested for any learning disabilities or other behavioral issues back in 2010-12 I was only diagnosed with SCD at 13 back in 2017. Many people who say that nobody understands them don’t understand themselves. Except for us peeps with SCD neither we or everyone else understood us and still don’t fully understand

I was diagnosed with this about a year and a half ago, and I'm 29. But there is so little about it out there still especially for adults, so now that I have this diagnosis, what is next? Also I was told that it was part of the ASD spectrum when I first got it, and now I'm finding conflicting information.

Sarah Kirshenbaum hey, I have SCD too. I was diagnosed around 3 years ago by my mom who isn’t a professional but has seen me go through hell because I didn’t understand a lot of things when it came to communication as a kid. SCD is not at all autism but can overlap with it as well as with ADHD. You can find articles about SCD on autismspeaks.org.... one article I read (I don’t remember where) said that SCD is most likely inherited if the person’s family has history with ASD and ADHD (I have a relative with autism and I’ve inherited ADHD from my mom) what I took from research I’ve done is that SCD is not autism but having a few elements seen in ASD, such as struggles with impulse control. I feel like SCD is unique to each individual. Because I have both SCD and ADHD which makes me really intolerant to noise whilst I’m a loud lil bitch and I tend to go off topic easily in conversations. It’s sad honestly that there isn’t enough knowledge about SCD because no matter how old you are and how far you’ve gone and learned to communicate, SCD is something that can be the worst form of torture until you begin to learn how to communicate and understand. Trust me I know this because despite my young age, I have been working on learning to understand non verbal communication and sarcasm and learning to communicate that way has allowed me to appreciate SCD because honestly I communicate with myself as I’ve always known and it allowed me to be my own person and think in my own way. It’ll be okay Sarah :) I hope that wherever you are you’re doing amazing and living your life to the fullest.
