I saw your video when it was new here and implemented it right away. I get my wood pellets from a building supply store and I only buy it twice a year. It's the greatest thing ever and my cat loves it! Thank you :) I just wish she would cover her shit lol.

How did I not realize that you could use the same pine bedding we get for our horse as kitty litter. Thanks for the tip!

I heard that PINE litter can make cats sick, so I use simple wood litter like you suggested, and it is MUCH cheaper and it works better also...thanks for the demo on making your own litter boxes, and thanks for the tips.

We have been doing this with our three cats and four litter boxes for over four years. We made our own litter boxes. We spend about $100 a year.

I learned this recently when going off grid without plumbing and switched to using these pellets in a five gallon bucket for my own “litter”! 😂 I’ve been thinking ever since how to make this happen for my cat, so this video is a big help. (Creepy how KZbin knew I’d want to know this, but hey.) Farm supply stores are your friend!

My cat has a Litter Robot. You have to use clumping litter for it to work. It's mostly automatic, doesn't kick up dust, and you can look up tons of stats on its app. You can't use pine litter, they even say not to. Only thing I really have to do is keep an eye on litter amount inside the bowl, and empty the poop when it tells you. My cat loves her litter box!!!

I switched to pine litter for a couple months. It was absolutely amazing. However, my cat started to pee places she shouldn't although she still used the litter box. She seemingly had no qualms with the change. I had her tested for UTIs, blood work, etc. I had to go back to clay litter as a last ditch effort to get her to stop peeing everywhere. I'm not sure why clay litter fixed the situation but she completely stopped within days of the change. I miss the pine litter experience. It was super cheap and smelled WAY better than clay ever does

Just use the flushable kitty litter from Cat's Best (green big bag with the red square on it that states something). It's sort of woody too but with a texture of normal kitty litter. It contains the smell really really well, it contains the moisture perfectly. Don't have to use nearly as much. Like with my 1 cat I do many months with 1 bag. It clumps really well. And it's scoopable really easy. Even if i fail my cat for a few days due to my health it doesn't become smelly or dirty. It really is *that* good. I discovered it by accident and it has saved me a lot of kitty litter money which I now spend on better food for kitty.

I've always just used recycled paper pellets. No sifting. Scoop the poop out daily, replace all the litter about once a week. Currently using a stainless steel litterbox with rounded corners. This combination is very easy to clean (in fact it pretty much doesn't even need cleaning, because it never gets dirty or smelly). But I do like the idea of it smelling like a lumberyard.

Yes! I am taking care of 21 rescue cats. I was stending around $200 on clay titter! It's a scam. A bag of pine litter cost about $7! Pine litter will save a bunch of monie. How ever getting your cat to use it is another store. I have 7 cats that I've trained to use it in my basement. But I still have a couple who poop outside the box. There is another litter that works really good but more expensive. The crystal litter. I have more to say about that, but currently we are working on a system that will make it's even easier and cheaper to use the more expensive crystal litter that will make it even cheaper then pellets, and cleaner! Can't say anymore do to protecting our work. We are not done testing and improving the product. Subscribe to my channel and when it's ready I will be posting a video. Also I have recently purchased the 3 part cleaning system in this video and it works great! So either pellets or crystal is good. But we found the cats take to the crystal better then the pellets.

Terrible video. Bad advice. Wood pellet litter does smell and the sawdust does as well. Be honest. The softing pan can also make a mess. You need to empty the saw dust everyday. I have found natural corn litter clumps well and doesnt smell.

Tried this with store bought pans. Pallets kept falling through the holes or clogging them up! I also found that getting all the poo pieces out was a little challenging based on size. Ya almost need chopsticks to get out the finer bits. 😅 also, some cats don't like the feeling of the pellets under their paws, and you still get pellets all over the floor. Cleaning up the stray dust your cat will drag around is also a pain in the butt!

How does this work in regards to mold growth? Wet wood is the perfect medium for mold to grow, specifically harmful and toxic types like Aspergillus and Penicillium.

Im interested in trying this cuz i hate the dust from clay litter but im a little worried it will get harder to track how much my cat pees with it. When the clay clumps its easy to see but how do you think when "measuring" it with wood pellets?

Yes! I wo.dered if anyone else did this?! I've been doing for almost 10 years. I started by adding just a couple of cups of regular litter to the pine pellets at first. I also put baking soda in the bottom pan. It helps with the odor. Thought pine smells nice. I can tell when somome goes potty. Add the baking soda to the bottom pan... And doesn't come into contact with Kitty. All is well. Best working and affordable litter for multi cats! I started with 3 and became a rescue for several other sweet 😺 spirits. Everyone is fixed, vetted, fed, warm and snuggly. Thanks for the potty tip! I want to get a baby potty chair and train them. They already pee in the drain. Not a drop left behind. Better aim than my kids! Lol night. whatever the case, have a good day or night. Love and Light 💖 ✨️

Sawdust is best pellets i never tried them and clay is just part of dirt and not bad for the environment. I use sawdust from a saw meel most the time because it is great for oders but i have been know to grab dirt from my clay rich yard when i forgot to go by the meel.
