I think that is a very practical solution to the problem. I am curious about your thoughts on shape memory direct-printed aligners regarding torque. At some lectures it has been suggested that by increasing the thickness of the aligners you can increase force, specially for expansion but torque has not been discussed
@Discoverortho126 күн бұрын
The issue of applying simple methods to a complex problem is that they usually do not solve the issue. Thickness iincrease s one possibility but the problem at the moment is that the software we have are not designed from biomechanical mathematical calculations but rather by linear incremental movements. Torque is a very complex movement that requires more attention. My "solution" is just one suggestion of software coding to take advantage of a larger distance. I do not have the truth but remain convinced that the solution is in the software and not solely in material manipulation.

Hi Doc. According to your video, the M/F will ALWAYS be equal to the distance from the force applied to the center of resistance. The actual M/F that we use is a ratio between the force applied to move a tooth (F) and the counterbalancing moment produced by the couple used to control root position (M), which will determine the type of tooth movement that we will achieve.
@Discoverortho1Ай бұрын
Yes. moment equals f times d. So if you want translation you need a counter moment where the ratio is equal to d

Great work prof How did you distalize the post segment please?
@Discoverortho12 ай бұрын
We used a Wilmes distalizer in the animation. It is a microimplant supported palatal appliance. You may want to use a simpler approach too.

Bonjour Dr Retrouvey. Merci ..

Is that finally point of rotation you found actually obtainable with braces. I could see a vertical and lingual forces from a bracket doing something like that but it’s hard to imagine the that it would not cause more significant movement at the apex.

I would like to say that I am asking not out of doubt, but straight curiosity and a desire to learn. I have no professional background.

The calculations has to do with the dispalcement of the tooth. It rotates arond a point called the center of rotation. FOrces have an influence but this is a different discussion.

thank you so much Dr. we appreciate your efforts. kindly, would you mind explaining the position of the bracket and it's effect on the torque, whether if it is mbt or roth? 🙏🙏🌹🌹

Yes the position of the bracket on the crown surface is really important as the inclination of the slot will vary depending onthe height of the FA point.

I dont know why nobody could think as simple as using smaller wire like 0.012 or 0.014 Niti if too high force was the problem of using 0.018?
@Discoverortho110 ай бұрын
You still create an unfavorable moment to force ratio and concentrate the forces on the crestal bone. Basically negative instead of positive remodeling. Plus too much extrusive force
