You're right it has been a very good season... the best in years, in my opinion. I also hate it that season 8 is the last... but I hope Blood of my Blood is a good replacement... and maybe the writers can think of a way for us to get some Jamie/Claire cameos there.

I just think it's difficult for some people to let go of the idea they had of Rupert in their heads. He's not only in Rivals but in Riders, Polo, The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous and nearly every other book in the Rutshire Chronicles. We've all read a million times that he's the handsomest man in England... so Alex Hassell WAS a bit of a letdown for most fans. Personally, I always imagined Rupert as a young Robert Redford... and when I looked up who Alex Hassell was, I instantly thought "miscast". But he surprised me... I didn't mind him at all as Rupert. I don't think he's particularly handsome (at least, not to me). But he does have a lot of charisma. I would have prefered it if the casting had nailed the perfect Rupert, like they did in Outlander for example (Sam Heughan IS Jamie Fraser)... but it is what it is, and Alex Hassell did a good job.

@@PrincessPlotline The thing is, there's a vast difference with thinking someone is miscast for their looks but still appreciating their talent and potential and it's another outright hating on them and writing them off. I've read the book too and when I first saw Alex playing Rupert, I was just surprised he was not blonde and blue -eyed. Personally I do think he's very handsome and charismatic and that's the main thing. Thankfully there are loads of fans of the books that do admire Alex and love his portrayal. I'm one of them. I just wish people would stop slating him because it's not his fault. Jilly Cooper defended him aswell, it was her choice to cast him. Alex even said himself that he couldn't understand why and thought he had no chance. At least he was honest. He even said he was happy to have his hair dyed blonde and to have adonis blue contact lenses in but Jilly Cooper said no to that and told him to carry on as he was. I was expecting a more younger version of Jerome Flynn, who was Bronn in Game of Thrones. But when he was younger. He would have been the perfect choice. I think those who haven't read the book will obviously like Alex far better. But there's so much overreaction to the casting it's caused fans to be toxic.

Thanks for your suggestions.Those sound like wonderful shows, but I've never watched any of them, so that's why they are not included in the list. I only recommend shows I've watched myself... and I usually don't get the chance to watch anything that old because it's not easily accesible in my country... and it wouldn't be accesible to create a high quality video either.

Most of my favourite episodes are also on season 1 (and also season 2). That's when I fell in love with the show.

Thanks for the correction. English is not my native language, and in spanish we use the "of" in the middle of his name... so that's how I got confused.

I believe that's how it was in the books. But it sounded like the show changed things a bit, because Laoghaire was sure she would lose Balriggan if she married Joey. If it was hers (in the show)... why would she be afraid? Honestly, the whole thing was a bit confusing, but that's the way it sounded when I watched the scene, so I asumed they'd changed this part for the show. Maybe I was wrong...

Normally, I think you'd be right. But the writers don't seem to care about that, since in the show it appeared that it was not mandatory to inform the other shareholders.

I didn't read the book... but I'm hoping there'll be a season 2 of the show. I want Liza and Harry's to get more interesting storylines... and more Adella as well. She's super interesting.

Probably because Disney wanted to be inclusive. If I remember correctly, all the book characters are white (or 99% of them).
