Leyline of Anticipation is not needed here since miracle can be cast on opponent's turn.
@CommandersSanctum12 күн бұрын
Wow, you learn something new everyday! I had no idea that miracle ignored timing restrictions; I thought you could just cast it later normally for the miracle cost, not as the resolution of miracle itself. Thanks for pointing that out! Leyline is definitely worse here due to that, but it could still have a place to cast those sorceries at instant speed or even non-miracled enchantments you may have in your hand. It’s a bit iffy though, so I could see either way

Solely for extra card draw. Card draw is super important in decks, IMO, so I like to include as much as I can. As for why those cards.. honestly, I just tend to enjoy the one mana blue card draw spells like Ponder/Opt/Preordain, so tend to include them in most my decks. I snagged this list and have been tweaking it a little: - Tarmogoyf Nest is a great include. 2 card types, and creates bodies where card-types in the graveyard matter. At the very least you'll generally be able to make 4/5 tokens for 2 mana (sorcery, instant, artifact-creature, etc) - Gothmog, Morgul Lieutenant also grants your creature tokens deathtouch (no attacking necessary) - meaning even if your opponents have beefy blockers when your own crows swing out they'll be taking things down with them. - Oasis Gardener - good mana dork that fits the scarecrow theme - The Swarmweaver - multi-type, creates bodies, and provides an anthem to other bodies you create using things like twitching doll - Strionic resonator, Lithoform Engine, Roaming Throne - copy commander triggers (need more scarecrows for best benefit on the throne) - Rootgrapple - dual card type non-creature permanent removal and card draw - Formless Genesis - repeatable dual-type sorcery (hopefully with the various card draws you'll have plenty of lands to discard) I'm sure there's more but these are what I found in my tinkering so far. I'm excited to try this deck out.

i dont understant why killing other peoples crows if they are goaded, they are literally beneficial to you because is damage your opponents have to deal with and you cant be targeted by it
@CommandersSanctum23 күн бұрын
It’s specifically for when you have only one opponent left. When it’s just you and one other player, those goaded birds of theirs have to attack you. It’s the one real downside of goad, the eventual 1v1, since goad says they have to attack another player “if able”. Since they can no longer attack another player, they have to attack you. So the bird killing spells are for when it’s the end game, so you don’t get killed by the creatures you created for your opponent.

Not a bad start to a deck tech. Sword of Feast and Famine + Aggravated Assault seems like a no brainer. Same with Light of Promise + Sunbond. Makes it easy to threaten commander damage for an easy victory. Wouldn't hurt to lean into the lifegain with Aetherflux Resevoir and Well of Lost Dreams.
@TheMkw4ever24 күн бұрын
How are you supposed to make so many birds when you only get four tokens in the deck? Are you supposed to buy more
@CommandersSanctum24 күн бұрын
So the bird tokens are just there as physical representation of the objects if you want to use them. When you make tokens, you can make as many as the game will allow, and can use anything to represent them. Wizards provides some cards to do this, but technically you can use anything you want: backsides of Magic cards, pennies, dice, whatever. What I usually do is I use a single token and then put a D20 on it to represent how many of those tokens exist. But you aren’t limited to how many physical token cards you have; you can make as many tokens as you want per game actions, and can simply represent them on the board however you want. Hopefully that makes sense!
@brandtthebrent722725 күн бұрын
Something very important to be noted is that using Trickster's Elk as removal via bestow won't trigger Rendmaw's ability. It's decent if you just want to play a 3/3 and make some birds and have it be able to pivot as removal, but it can't do both at the same time, you get forced to choose: "On the stack, a spell with bestow is either a creature spell or an Aura spell. It's never both, although it's an enchantment spell in either case."
@CommandersSanctum25 күн бұрын
That’s a good distinction to make. It’s a nice modular removal spell, where it can either be cast as a creature to trigger Rendmaw OR as a bestow enchantment to transform an opponents creature. Admittedly, casting it just as a generic 3/3 is pretty boring, but I do like the fact it can serve different purposes depending on what you need in the moment.

After having gotten a few reps in with my own zinnia deck, there's a couple of observations: Things that cause additional triggers are infinitely more powerful than token doublers. It's already been said, but i wanted to reiterate.... but i wouldn't take out the token doublers; i would just run both effects alongside each other - they're both good for the deck. Nesting dovehawk is insane. It's a 1 card army when combined with your commander. It gets pretty out of hand on the turn you play it, and if you're allowed to untap with it then not much short of a board wipe is gonna set you back. "When another creature etb's" effects are extremely underrated here, particularly the ones that deal damage to each opponent. I do get your remarks about the high mana cost of things; it's very easy for people to handwave the offspring cost away, but it massively changes how cards play. Anyway, i said i also have a zinnia deck - i include the link for reference: www.archidekt.com/decks/9034929/the_kids_arent_alright It's 95% correct to the physical deck (a couple of cards have been swapped out & not yet updated on the list).

@CommandersSanctumАй бұрын
They’re different enough to be good in different situations, I think. Ob Nixilis is going to be better in more situations, but Valgavoth is better in that it doesn’t have to be exactly 1 damage and there are going to be situations where the card draw is better than the impulse. But I agree, I think Valgavoth would be great in the 99 of an Ob deck.
@anthonybalista7421Ай бұрын
@@CommandersSanctum Ya i'm kinda torn the more i think about it honestly. Ox Nix seems like a "better" deck probably, but not being restricted to only 1 damage does open up alot more options as shown here. Plus you can't run Solphim, Firey Emancipation etc in Ob Nix (well you can, but they take away from his ability so probably not worth it). I wanted to build Ob Nix for a very long time but got side tracked by many other decks (and still am lol), but Valgavoth is making me possibly reconsider. I'll have to wait and see what else we get, because EVERY card that's good in Ob Nix (if you're not building CEDH anyways) is good in Valgavoth, but not the other way around xD. With all the small souces of damage i think damage multiplication would work well. Especially that 1 legendary from ixalon who makes its a solid 4 damage from any red source. On that note blood chiefs ascension would be nasty as its easy for us to set up and the life gain helps offset some of the self pings.
@CommandersSanctumАй бұрын
Those are all fantastic ideas! And they work really well in Valgavoth, since he doesn't care how much life loss there is (unlike Ob Nixilis), just that it occurs. That would be a good way to differentiate the two similar commanders from a deck building perspective.
@DasweetkillerАй бұрын
So I'm pretty new to magic, say if an opponent loses life on their turn for reasons unrelated to my playing field. Does Valgaboth still get his +1/+1 and I still get to draw?
@CommandersSanctumАй бұрын
That is correct! Valgavoth doesn't care where the life loss comes from, so long as it happens to an opponent on their turn. So even if one of your opponents does something to make another opponent lose life on their turn, Valgavoth will get the +1/+1 counter and you'll draw a card.

The problem with Valgavoth is that: It only works on opponents turn Only once as well And the opponent whose turn it is, is the only one need to lose life for the ability to triggers. Making only +3/+3 draw 3 at maximum in 1 rotation
@CommandersSanctumАй бұрын
His ability is very restrictive, there's no doubt about that. That being said, it is pretty easy to get atleast 1 damage to each opponent on each of their turns, since there's a ton of "upkeep, deal 1 damage to player" type of effects. So getting the max effect (3 triggers in a rotation) isn't too difficult.
@JEL625Ай бұрын
@@goergerakly1496 i think he'll work best as a control/group slug commander with an option to go face rather than a dedicated voltron commander.
