Why would these athletes be treated any differently? Because they make a lot of money? Because they are famous? These same guys will go on a podcasts and talk trash about other athletes and then complain when someone talks trash about them. Make it make sense. Add gambling to the equation and you get what you get. No one is respectful any more but everyone believes that they deserve to be respected. You even have former athletes yelling at players on the court to the point of potentially fighting (Shannon Sharpe). The toothpaste has long been out of the tube.
