Look the bottom line is, Saquan spent 6 seasons of his prime with the giants and in that time they couldn't come close to building the team to win a championship. NY coun't force him to stay so when the 2024 off season rolled round he had to have his sights on any other team that could win the big one! The Giants wasted this man in his prime. He knows it and they knew it as well. The Eagles where a natural fit not just because he'd be working with a dominant O-Line for once in his career but also given his time growing up in eastern PA and playing for Penn State. At that point I would hardly say it's about the money or even division rivalries (especially given how the league values running backs to begin with) Philly and the team has welcomed him with open arms. That is the best case scenario for any player at his stage in his career.

That 1st game he played as a Philadelphia Eagle in NY was what everyone expected, even Joe Schoen. They paid Jones instead of Barkley when Jones did nothing, and Barkley did everything to win the hearts of the fans. Now, DJ is hated in NY because he still sucks and Saquon is loved by NFL fans across the country because he is who we all knew he was; elite.

In the modern nfl, if your financial decision is solely between a rb & qb....you've managed the cap totally wrong. Even a high paid running back is fractions of starting qbs salary. Back up quarters backs getting paid more than starting rbs. My opinion, they should have signed Barkley to a new deal and franchise tagged Danny.

After playing in high school and college for FREE while making millions for those institutions, y'all have every damn right to not settle for less than what you know you're worth in the pros. The key though is KNOWING your worth, because if you take MORE and don't live up to your hype, then you screw up the market for future athletes. Said all that to say this: as a Giants fan I'm not mad Barkley dipped to Philly; I'm mad the Giants went all-in on Jones when Nix and Penix Jr. were available to scoop up and move on from Jones. Nabers is a decent WR, but useless if Jones can't get the ball to him.

Barkley was a #2 draft pick coming out of college. That says that he was the second best football player in the draft. The fact that the Giants did not appreciate that and did not want to pay him boggles my mind. No one ever said Daniel Jones was one of the best players the year he graduated. Why did the Giants pay an average football player far more than they paid one of the greats? Big mistake.
