I paddled this on a Monday morning when the outfitter first opened, and i was the only one out there. I think its always like that on the weekends,No thanks. I dont drink and have no patience for drunk people. Most of my padding is in the BWCA

Nice to see you finally made it to Kangaroo. This is considered a really good paddling backup if lake Michigan is too rough.

It was a great plan B! The next day I was able to get out in the bigger water, but on the Green Bay side from Peninsula State Park. Stay tuned for that video!

I lived in Oshkosh most of my life and have no arguments on your paddling review. I almost never did any paddling there, mostly all big water and too much power boat traffic. not very interesting, not at all intimate.
@RedkayakladyКүн бұрын
I’m glad to hear that validation from a local! Oshkosh is not a bad town, but not appealing for kayaking. But hey, it could be worse. It could be Fond du Lac. 😆

I remember that lake from my childhood. At the time the causeway had no guardrails, and to us kids it was the 'scary bridge'.
@RedkayakladyКүн бұрын
I can totally see how it would be! Now the causeway over Lake Pontchatrain really freaked me out.

Since you asked where you should paddle next... I would love to see some Lake Michigan in winter Eskimo rolls... preferably during high winds. I've been wanting to do this myself but I'm kinda scared. If you were to do it first - and survive - it would give me the confidence I need to do it myself.

A lake that large should be able to have areas to ski and run speed boats plus the kayak stuff I would think to make the whole lake wake free is a little ridiculous there’s people with other interests also.

What a nice lake to paddle, I wasn’t aware that there is a Door county in Wisconsin there is a Door county in Michigan. I looked in the description but I didn’t see what month you recorded this? Oops I’m sorry I just saw that it’s at the beginning of the video.

My grandparents had a cottage in Jacksonport Door County. I spent most of my summers up there when I was a kid in the 80s. Sadly they sold the place in 2000. Door County is still one of my all time favorite places to visit and only a 4 hour drive from my place in Oconomowoc.. I always wanted to Kayak Lake Michigan by cave point but it can get rough on that big body of water. You made the right call by going to kangaroo Lake.. Great video! Hope you had fun up there!

Fond memories family used to rent cabin on Kangaroo lake 50+ years ago. Lake was difficult to fish due to water clarity. It was usually early morning or night fishing especially due to boat traffic.

Glad to see that you took advantage of Beaver Dam Lake on such a beautiful day. I have lived in the area all of my 56 year long life. The lake has its ups and downs but I live just a little down from where you launched and the sunsets and views are just si beautiful. Hope that you come back again someday and give it another tour.

Come back to Upper Nemahbin in the summer. Very quiet during the week, and you know about the no wake Sunday afternoon. Also you can access Lower Nashotah lake from the connecting short "river". Lower Nashotah is pretty quiet and is spring fed. Most kayakers head up there for a nice lap around the lake.

Good job for your efforts to clean up the trash. It's sad seeing that much garbage in the waterways. It's sad to see any at all. Can't stand those mylar balloons. I find them often at my place.

@@Redkayaklady *_They are "FOLBOT" 2-piece screw-together wooden paddles from the early 1960s._* *_They have a metal cleat/tip on them. They're in GREAT Shape. And I still even have the leather carrying bags they came in too. I would probably sell them to you cheap Beaver Dam. Cause you remind me of Sandahl Bergman. It is a shallow under utilized lake with NO gas station and only a few dinning oppies that limits the usage to outsiders. Generally quit unless you are in the urban area of lake. Please paddle it again.
@Redkayaklady3 күн бұрын
No gas station on the water?? That’s crazy for a lake that size. ! I wonder why that is. Boy, if someone could open one, they’d make a killing. I enjoyed both launching from town and in the more secluded side. I will definitely go back.
