Regarding Faction books, already confirmed for Future as well, starting with Eternal Dynasty somewhere around Q2/3

Thank goodness - a series of tutorials that I actually understand! :D
@Enrique-Garcia21 сағат бұрын
What I don't understand is that every model can only take one hit ("one wound"). So if it dies when it gets hit, why does it get to do a wound check? Even the example in the beginner's guide doesn't make sense (I'm using Age of Fantasy Skirmish): "Example: A unit of three Skeletons has taken three wounds, so it first removes two models as casualties, and then puts one wound marker on the last model and rolls to check the wound’s effect." WHY? Why does the third skeleton get a wound check instead of just dying? The rules doesn't explain this.

So i like the rules, and I've been a patreon supporter since the beginning, but the lore is uninteresting, and the models are not often Grim Dark. I'm extremely disappointed OPR despite its origin, and despite its moniker have gone in a very Saturday morning childrens cartoon aesthetic, a missed opportunity as GW positions itself for the politically correct mainstream. I see more misses than hits as they get deeper into their releases. My opinion, but it's not sucking me in.

I actually like the treefolks wearing the skulls of animals - Mother Nature, red in tooth and claw. But the dwarf mining titan - we all know what song accompanies i in battle... Brothers of the mine rejoice! (Diggy Diggy Hole.)

I think the modellers are following the stl trend toward wendigo-vibe tree-folk models. Others have done it better, I too am unimpressed.

My response to the final survey question was a new game idea. OPR: Horde or something. Essentially Quest/ Star Quest but scaled up to full army size. With inspiration from Poorhammer’s 40K Horde Mode, of course.
@riggermortisfpv5262 күн бұрын
OPR didn't do it for me, for many of the reasons you mentioned and a few of my own. Stationforge is killing it though.

The Hero rule locks the Hero into the Unit's defense for the entire attack. An unfortunate downside to putting Heros in Units. (The attacking Unit's attacks happen simultaneously)

I don't see how a society could maintain a war for 800 years. Or is the whole concept or mortality not present in that universe? Like who's having babies? who's feeding and training them? Even if you use child soldiers and hand them a gun as soon as they can lift it you still have to wait a bit and keep them alive first.

Interesting video. I grew up on 40k, buying it on launch day back in '87. It's definitely changed in the way you describe. I play OPR, and we use 40k models (kinda...) and we use 40k "lore" for our narratives. It's never "High Elf Fleets" v "Battle Brothers", it's Ulthwe v Blood Angels. We just discard the "official" lore we don't like and choose to ignore it. TC doesn't appeal to me as a setting. Perhaps due to its current relatively incomplete state, perhaps because it just feels to me like it's trying too hard to be that edgy kid at a party sat in a corner brooding running a pocket knife up and down his arm. If the mechanics work out. I might take a look later. For now .. i'm just looking at it as the settings are optional. Nobody from GW or OPR is coming to my games table and forcing my games to be lore-accurate. So for now, we'll just keep on keeping on the way i described above. If at some point anyone makes their setting what i want, i'll jump in.

It's not that I think Grimdark is always the answer- it's just that in the current era, thing fall into two categories: >Grimdark, even if it really isn't and its setting is more 'grounded'. >The polar opposite, where instead there's one or two very ham-fisted utopian societies and everyone else is a ham-fisted cartoon villain analogue of 'Those German Guys with the Windmill' that is obviously evil because evil reasons. There's no nuance, no 'this faction has their own perspective and reasons for doing what it does'. However, the thing about Grimdark people need to realize: >No faction, organization, nation, etc. are "the good guys" as a whole. >There are still individuals that are the good guys. >The setting is bleak, but that makes the good guys stand out even more.

Wow! Great batrep for a fantastic game! We just played a 3-player game of Space Weirdos on the same day this video was posted. As for the Sniper Aim question: each time you Aim it increases the DT by 1 but can't go above a d12. Once you declare an attack action you can't interrupt that action to Aim again to offset any defensive or attacking penalties so the Sniper shot was at d12s but it was a miss anyway so no harm, no foul (the cover added to the defender's roll as you played it). Excellent play through and banter. Looking forward to more Space Weirdos content in the future.
