The Serapeum is one of the best documented sites in all of Egypt. There were 1200 stele found at the site which document each and every apis bull buried there, how long they lived, and under which Pharaoh's reign. There were stele found which tell of how many workers were involved in excavating a chamber, how long it took, how long it took them to transport the sarcophagi into the serapeum, and how much they were paid.
