There are so many videos on this actually testing with visuals. Go watch it. I have gone to engineering school and no sometime engineers don’t think about everything. They are humans too and make mistakes. Most cars are changing to bottom mount oil filter now due to this dry start issue, convenience of oil change and filter to run more efficient. When filter is dry, it does take few seconds to run oil through your filter. Which is probably why most upside down oil filter engine don’t last long.

Just did this job on a 2014 GC. Had a heck of a time getting that firewall shield out, mine had more screws and bolts than the hemi. Also the windshield wiper arm was rusted to the motor. like yours the plastic elbow cracked and the coolant was running down the hose and dripping on the exhaust manifold. When I removed it the elbow it disintegrated in my hand. Why make this elbow out of plastic ???? Thanks for the vid.

old rotor looks absolutely good. We doing some turning on the lathe removing about 0.1mm and its ready to last another 50-80k km. Of caurse you need to measure it thickness and check is above minimal allowed. Turning costs for pair rotors is about 1/2 of cost of single rotor - so it makes sense to do it.

Looks like the last person to change the oil over torqued that drain plug. Looks like the oil sump/pan is made of thermoplastic and the brass threaded adapter for the drain plug broke free from the plastic because the drain plug was overtorqued at some point.
