Oh man the harmony of the Peasall sisters brings tears to my eyes

Absolutely beautiful singing. I never get tired of watching this movie, but I wish they'd release it on iTunes so I could play it to get me to sleep.

One of the top ten greatest movies ever made with possibly the greatest soundtrack. My favourite song has changed over the years as I've grown older and more appreciative.

I love how the Coen brothers have always just ignored the conventional wisdom of how you're "supposed" to do certain things and instead just do it the way they see best. It's what makes their movies stand out from the crowd.

My mother was laid to rest in 2008 to the song Angel band because my father liked these little girls version... So I can't make it through this movie without tears...😢😢

I was in College, my 2nd year….i saw it 4 times. By myself, on a date (very good date), took my parents later and my grandma (she never spoke English). But she hadn’t ever been to the movies in decades but she enjoyed it. To this day, watching the love feels like the 1st time I saw it. Other than Pulp Fiction, and The Abyss this is one of the few movies I can watch over and over without getting tired and bored. I was mind boggling to me on why nobody knew about it. And how empty the movie theatre was…..until the Grammys. When BOb DYlan appeared and ot won a bunch of awards for its music…then it became a smash then it became success. It was a slow burn, just like the Matrix, like Pulp Fiction and even like The Big Lebowski. No a days if a movie doesn’t make any friction it gets pulled. Back then movies were playing in theatres for months….and then they grew an audience. Now they get a month maybe two and then to streaming. People still want and care about movies like this….but movie executives only care about the bottom line.

I had a chance to see the post-movie tour that all the artists on the soundtrack did after the movie was so popular. That was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Unfortunately, Allison Kraus had laringitis and could not sing that night. But I got to hear the Nasheville Gluegrass Band, Emmylou, Ralph Stanley, Dan Tyminki and others all on the same show.

My all time favorite movie. But damn I always pictured that song being sung by an old worn Appalachian man. Not a younger fellow.

It messes me up having to think about singing and playing as well....... If I don't think about it , I'm fine .... but "planning" it out never seems to work...... In other words - thinking is the hard part for me .....

I saw this with my best friend in a strip mall that had the theater and a Barnes and Noble. We barely said anything to each other on the way out of the movie. We just walked over to the B&N and bought copies of the sound track. There was nothing to discuss.

O Brother was a masterpiece and the music was perfectly suited and absolutely integral to the production. I am not familliar with music of that period, but the music of this movie sounded absolutely authentic.

Never liked country much till i heard everything in "O Brother where art thou" and loved it!

That album isn't really much in terms as country. Its bluegrass, folk, religious, which i guess are thr genres country music has traditionally pulled from. I can't stand newer stadium country and there isn't a single song on that soundtrack that I hate

In grove city ohio. In 2001 the Karaoke lady at a local bar purchased the first karaoke version of A man of constant sorrow. She told me i was the first person to sing it karaoke. I am blessed to know that now because i didn't realize that movie or the song would go on to be as famous as it was.

Loved every moment of this movie. The acting was great, Clooney never did anything before or will he ever do anything to top this performance, the entire cast made their characters so very real...and then the music...hard to pick a favorite...from Jailhouse Now to Fly Away to Man of Constant Sorrow, it was all just fabulous....all so cleverly written. Thought I would die laughing at Delmar and Clooney does comedy very well, too.....i have seen this dozens of times mbut never get tired of it!!!

Cripes, these three women are the spitting image of the three girls who sing the song in the movie, all grown up. They even sit in the same spots that the girls stand when talking to the "only father they got."

Amazing that this song (Man Of Constant Sorrow) enjoyed such revival - such attention. It's an old, old song. My family of Folksingers was performing that song in the 1960s - and it was an old song, THEN.

One thing about family members who sing, since they grew up in the same home, with the same people, they sing with the same vocal inflections and timing that make those beautiful harmonies just as tight as they can be. Even the little pauses sound as though they come from one voice. Awesome.

I enjoyed this movie when it came out, but as time passes, I view it as somewhat extraordinary. Hollywood being obsessed with CGI comic book movies, this film stands apart as a very unique piece of art. I first saw the three fugitives as the stars of the film; I now see the context / environment as the star, with the three men moving, bewildered, through it. The Coen brothers took more chances in this film than most directors do in a lifetime.
@jerrybobteasdale2 жыл бұрын
The song was NOT a "freak hit." It was plain evidence that the overly polished, autotuned music being pushed on the market is less appealing. They're subtracting out the humanity. And shared humanity is the essential pull of music.
