I've been looking for a video that encapsulates what I feel about these three specific movies. You did it beautifully.

Is the transgendered casting of Peter off-limits? Nobody talks about it. But especially in historical context, wtf? Casting a woman as a male, what was that about? A desexualized Peter Pan doesn't answer the bell, so 2003 wins by default. Two things about Jerry Sumpter's Peter. I read a comment that described Jeremy Sumpter's Peter as a 'child god.' So yes! Sumpter doesn't play Peter as just a boy who can fly, he plays him as a boy god. 2003's romance between Peter and Wendy invites comparisons to Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder in 'Superman', and to Greek myths. Secondly, Sumpter's boy god doesn't act like any boy or overgrown manchild I ever knew. Heroically, he won't take advantage of Wendy for a fling because he can't commit to becoming her husband. The clapping scene in 2003 is fantastic. But the clapping scene in 'Finding Neverland' takes that crown.

11:45 Just thought I should point this out. In "Hook" they do have the clap your hands moment. When Peter meets Tink when he's an adult. After shouting that he doesn't believe in fairies, she falls down and says that he must clap his hands in order to save her. Which he does so and succeeds in reviving her.

Peter Pan 2003 is one of my favorite films of all time!!!! It has so much heart and captures so much whimsy! Peter's line "to live would be an awfully big adventure" breaks me, along with his and Wendy's goodbye 🥺❤ It's so beautiful!

I strongly disagree that "perfect" adaptations should have a balance between staying true to the original and doing their own things. Adaptions should only stay true to the original, like the Disney films of Alice in Wonderland or Winnie Pooh. People who aren't respecting the orginal 100% might want to make their "own thing" by inventing a original story. The disrespect for orginial stories resulted in a ton of ridiculously bad, evil movies like the latest Snow White adaption with Rachel Zegler, if you remember. The yapping about "outdated stereotypes" is also the worst argument ever against the 50's Peter Pan movie (that is obviousely the best adaption for people who aren't triggered by profession). Pretty sure no native american or who ever is supposed to feel triggered by the 50's movie has a problem with it. With all due respect but maybe you guys can try to be less of the cliche humorless progressive SJW's and put at least some effort into understanding tradtional/older work without dismissing it as outdated.
