It is posible to make combinations of two sounds with the d50 vst ?

You could layer as many together as you like, just depending on how much your CPU can handle I guess.

I have one of those magazine floppy records, of a demo for this. This is the first time ive bothered to look for it. I'm not going to lie, your playing is great, but the synth is bland.

The PG8X VST compliments this synth so amazingly, especially as a programming tool and patch librarian. Randomize FTW! They sound different enough for me to still have my JX8P. P17 FOREVER!! Still one of my all-time favorite synths sounds. There are more powerful synths, there are better-sounding synths. But for some reason this one still seems to be up there as my all-time favorite. It just works and does the thing it does very well. And sounds so amazing
@lundswedenАй бұрын
I really like the PG-8X VST too, and IMO it can sound very close to a real JX on some patches, however the texture is definitely audibly better on the JX-8P and also the patches don't translate properly all the time. Perhaps this is not even possible due to the many revisions to the JX-8P and different calibration between (real) units.

What, perhaps, intended to be a mere gear demonstration turns out to be a tune of outstanding creativity in the electronic music genre. I have listened to it about a dozen of times now, until I finally recorded it to make a .FLAC copy of it, which I play then and now on my HiFi gear and on my Smartphone alike. For this is one of the best and most creative tunes in the latter genre I heard, along with some others by other composers such as Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis Papathanassiou. etc. And as I listen to the latter composers since the age of thirteen, I may precise that I am 64 today. I feel honored to be able to express my congratulations personally to a so talented musician.

I couldn't tell which one was real without watching the video. But what I do know is that my D-05 sounds rounder and clearer than the VST, with less digital noise in some presets (as well as better dynamic range and more accurate sample transposition in its modern Clear mode).

Definitely the only board that I have mastered the use of its sequencer and used to its full potential. Although you can only really store one lengthy song at a time, I was and I guess I still am very old school and still refuse to incorporate a laptop in my setup. With that said, later in life I had to rip all my music from cassettes converting to mp3 :-/ I sold it long ago. I still own an 01w FD Pro.
@amonster8mymother4 ай бұрын
Can you switch sequences on these?
@jaxonjaxonfied19314 ай бұрын
The M1 holds up to 10 songs in sequencer mode but since the unit lacks storage, your songs will be short. I created patterns for drum tracks which will free up some space. I literally was only able to write 1 song at a time with internal storage and then I would record the song externally then erase the song and start a new one. Not sure if this answered your question. @@amonster8mymother

Wow. Good eye! haha. I had to look and see what you were talking about. It's not there anymore. Back then, for a few months, I had a weird small lump or something. It came and went. It was a little painful sometimes. I think it was a 'Ganglion Cyst'

Honestly I think I would fail a blind A/B test. I subscribe to the Roland Cloud, and the fact that I have access to all these sounds, and instruments (albeit virtually) is amazing to me.
@SeverityOne4 ай бұрын
The D-550, though, provided it doesn't break down due to old age, will never need a licence, though. Or an internet connection. Or depend on Roland servers to be up. Or depend on Roland to exist as a company.

@SeverityOne Some people have died since I last saw comments like this, you know. Nothing belongs to us forever, not even our body. Make music with what you have, don't collect equipment that collects dust. Eternity awaits each of us, but not in this life.
@SeverityOne4 ай бұрын
@@Acrimonious_Snake Yes, that's all good and well, but look at the Roland VariOS. That's newer than the D-50, and less usable because the software no longer runs. And this happened in our lifetimes.
@Acrimonious_Snake4 ай бұрын
@@SeverityOne Limited lifespan applies to ANY computer and software, not just Roland. How often do you buy a new smartphone, computer or OS license? But you only blame Roland, not Samsung, Apple or Microsoft. Then don't use computers lol. The Roland Cloud is a GREAT option and a great value for the money. Well, unless you're a collector.
@SeverityOne4 ай бұрын
@@Acrimonious_Snake Oh, I'm a collector alright, but I'm also a software developer. I'm quite familiar with licences. With a licence, I get new features. Unless, of course, I'd buy a subscription, but I'm not a fan of that. So, even though we get them from work, I have my own licence for Jetbrains IntelliJ IDEA, an IDE used for software development. And I barely ever use it. But the difference is that, if I stop paying the yearly licence, I no longer get upgrades, but I can still use the software. However, either you completely failed to understand my point, or you deliberately steered it in a different direction. Yes, hardware breaks down, but often it can be fixed. However, if a company goes out of business, can you still use the software? I know that you can purchase licences for Roland soft synths. My concern is that, contrary to hardware that is just there, with software you have to jump through all these hoops because it's so easy to copy. That's my problem with software licences for musical instruments.
@mrnolex5 ай бұрын
Yup, in a mix it would be hard to pick which is which but singled out like this there is a clear thump, smack and crisp in some patches on the D550 hardware which is clearly missing in the cloud version. That's not to say it sounds worse but at least different. But I'm sure if you compare a handfull of D550's they may be different as well. Might also be the audio interface A/D creating that difference as well. Doesn't have to be the D550 hardware, though it probably is.
