A good place to start would be if a customer asks for a #1 on the sides . Lay the blade flat against the head at the lower part of the fade and increase the angle as you rise up it will take you to a 1 1/2 if your using an andis taper blade
@Mike-hy8cs27 күн бұрын
Love watching your no guard journey. One thing i will say is with the raking technique if you start open like you were doing instead of changing the angle to less steep angle if you simply close the lever slightly and keep using a 90degree angle it will fade right into what you did with it all the way open and its a lot quicker and more forgiving than changing the angle and leaving it fully open.
@drusantana19 күн бұрын
I appreciate the advice I'm greatful you would share that knowledge with me! 🤜🤛💥💥💯 I have noticed that very small movements on the lever can make incredible changes to the fade. Just this week I've realized that is I'mportant to even go sideways slightly in some instances. It's hell of a journey

@drusantana Yeah man I personally never tried to no guard an entire fade but i utilize the raking technique on a lot of my haircuts over the years. Yeah for example I like to use just 1 guard when I fade (usually the #1 for skin fades) Reason being is its easier to make everything even with a number 1 rather than relying on perfect freehand technique on every single head. Ill rake freehand as much as I can to skip steps clean up any dark spots or areas that need it with a number 1 open or closed and then i just rake with the number 1 to basically do the 1.5guard and 2 guard equivalent right into clipper over comb (I keep a clipper comb in hand or close by for this part) or right into whatever they have on top. I won a fastest fade competion like that I did the cut in 8minutes and was just detailing for the other 7 we had to work with lol. People were surprised how detailed my cut came out cause they saw me only using 1 guard.

It's the amount of space between the teeth of the cutting blade. It catches hair very easily instead of pushing the hair and cutting it at an angle. That angle makes the follicle at a jagged cut. This is why the andis masters and the oster fast feed make for softer fades that you can lterally feel .
