I purchased these needles primarily for the swiveling cables, the smooth bamboo and the needle points. I am so sorry I did! I CANNOT get my yarn to smoothly transfer over the joins, no matter what I do! I am currently trying to make them work with slippery Alpaca yarn. I contacted the company and they admitted they have known there was a problem with their joins. I sent several photos and lots of text into them explaining the problems I’ve been having. They said it would take them about a year to improve their needles. They are working on it now. The new product will be announced on their website. For now, I will return to using my Chaiogoos. Could I get your reaction to my problem? Marjorie
@Fiberluxeco2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marjorie. Well that’s not good. :( I’m sorry you’re having problems with the joins on your set. I use mine consistently and I have never once had problems with the joins on mine. And I always use 100% silk on them which is the easiest to catch on anything. My set is fine. Just a note, I’m not a sponsor for their product. Nor an affiliate. Just wanted to put out a review in English. My reaction shouldn’t matter. I’m sorry you don’t like them. I absolutely love my set.

Hi Dina, thank you for your review. After watching your video I went ahead and invest in one. Do you still like it or found any con? My pattern calls for knitting flat first then in the round later. I'm using 100%merino wool fingering weight yarn. For the flat piece I found the stitch to always get stuck on toward cord connection part. How it is thin to big again.. my yarn get stuck in btw there and I have to force it up. Do you or anyone run into that problem ? Deciding to keep or return ? Sigh.
@Fiberluxeco2 жыл бұрын
Hi my fiber friend! And what you just said is why I bought them and did the review. Nope. Does not snag at all at the join! At all. I work a lot with silk which has a tendency to snag more than anything else. Also on rough skin etc. as you may imagine. It is really seamless. Very worth it. And I don’t regret it. After I’m done with a project, I make sure to wipe clean them. For the money that we spend on them, they could have put them in a case that was a little less flimsy but it’s their special bamboo grown and treated locally and handcrafted that makes them so nice. as long as we don’t sit on them, they will last! Lol.

For your next loom check out a 4 shaft or 8 shaft Ashford. Also portable. I promise you that once you get hooked on weaving you won't be satisfied until you get something that will give you the ability to make intricate designs. I was going to get a RHL when, after 50 years of crocheting, I lost the feeling in my left hand. Instead I found a 4 shaft floor loom. I am in love. In 2.5 years, I have made 32 towels, 3 sets of placemats and runners, a wool blanket, and 3 wool scarves. My loom is 36 inches wide. Last summer I made the leap and bought an 45 inch 8 shaft loom. Both looms were made by LeClerc. Granted are neither are portable but I am homebound and I rarely travel beyond my grocery store. BUT the 4 and 8 shaft Ashford or Schacht is portable!! Whichever you choose HAVE FUN!!

So now that you have a 10 and a 24 which do you prefer? I know apples to oranges but do you have a preference. I have a Schacht 15 and a 25 flip. The flip loom sits in its box. Its so hard to warp alone that it seldom gets used. The 15 cricket always has a warp on it. I use it all the time. I had a 32 harp loom which sat for years because that thing was so dang big it was just unusable. I got brave and took it apart and cut it down to make it a 20 inch loom. I think we always think bigger is better but in the case of looms Im not sure that's accurate. I still prefer my little 15.
@Fiberluxeco2 жыл бұрын
I have to say that I absolutely love the 24 inch! I learn to warp it alone by standing over it and wrapping the warp in my arm while it is over my shoulder. It’s still portable enough to take in the car easy and I’m in LOVE. I find that I thought I would use something smaller, but I will be sewing a lot of projects. Thanks for your comment, the ones you have are beautiful!

Hi Dina, thanks for your review on the KA Seeknit's interchangeable bamboo needles. I have never heard about this brand before even though I live in Asia. It has always been Clover and Tulip dominating the market here in terms of Japanese needles. I think I will give this brand a shot since I really love bamboo needles. I find that my hand hurts when I use the Chiaogoo Stainless Steel needles. I'm not sure if it's a sign of aging (Arthritis?) or that metal needles tend to be "harder" on the hands but I never had that problem when I knit with my Clover Bamboo Circulars. Hope to see more interesting content from you! Take care!

That is the precise reason why I point out that very reason in the video. I wanted to get a set that was durable. This is it! I’ve been using these and they are strong. Thank you for the video! I’ve been looking into buying this set but it’s a splurge. How does the smoothness of the actual needle compare to the chiaogoo? I have used cheaper bamboo needles before and found that the resistance when pushing the stitches forward to knit is a little too much for me.
@Fiberluxeco3 жыл бұрын
Hi Emma! Thank you! Yes, same here with bamboo. These are a buttery soft coating and super smooth unlike commercially made bamboo like some clover Takumi’s. They are perfect for lace work like Chiaogoo’s. I’m working with them right now using 100% silk and it gives me ‘just’ the right amount of grip I was hoping for. The KOSHITSU are even stronger but smoothness is the same on both! At end of the video I hold the needle up against Chiaogoo’s so you can also see them side by side. I believe these are the best bamboo needles around among so many bamboo needles out there like Knit Picks, Knitters Pride, Hiya Hiya and Takumi’ which are all almost 100.00 per set anyway. PS they’re not as fast as stainless steel obviously albeit definitely more slippery than your standard bamboo with the bonus of a seamless swivel cord. 🤗
