Saw them in 77 I'd forgotten how bad they really were.

"Who writes the lyrics? The drummer? Who sings?" 😂 Its an old video, maybe Im misinterpreting --- does she really not know a thing about the band she's interviewing or is she having a joke?? Were the press interviewers really that clueless?

The double-take and "freeze" that this song caused in me was almost comical. After that first listen, I replayed it like 25 times. Every element individually is brilliant, then added together the cumulative effect is just mesmerizing. Ed's guitar, perfectly placed and toned, just soothes my brain. It hits perfectly with the bass and rhythm. This song is perfection. I wish I had been old enough to see them live!! From the Detroit Michigan area, USA, 2025.

How good were these buggas!!?!! Still playing ur riffs (awfully!) Ed.
This was the point where a tired Ed Kueper morphed into Alison Moyet. it happened so fast that nobody noticed at the time. How did such a genius end up making such dull music? Something that seems to plague Australian pop music, maybe it's the effects of the sun.

Sensational. Saw this lineup on this same tour in Melbourne. They were the closing act of the Melbourne INternational Jazz festival. We then flew to Sydney the following day to see them again at The Basement. I had waited many many years to see them, especially with Louise Elliot, and was not gonna miss these chances. Have seen Ed many times in different guises but never as the Clowns. Some things are well worth every second of the wait.

Just an amasing song. The Clowns best! & Louise on Sax is just the icing on the cake...the backbone of this song. Your Sax work is priceless! 👌.

Hi, is that a Hi-Watt amp you’re playing in there?
@baabaabaa-El21 күн бұрын
They used Vase and Strauss amps (rarely) in the early days mate. Vase were a bit more rugged, you can see their backline in some clips. Edit: saying that, this gig is in Sydney, maybe that's Radio Birdmans backline theyre using (?)... hence the Hitler youth remark. You might be right mate, that head in the b/g look similar to a Hiwatt.

I wonder if Cobain and Albini knew these guys used a Veleno guitar? One or two In Utero tracks feature it and Kurt loved The Saints.

Was at the Hobart gig, great performance, thank you. Outstanding guitar as always…..Story of Love was brilliant, just as I’d hoped, as was KYP, Stranded, Messin’ and everything else. Bit cheeky skipping 5,6 and 7 from Ero Neuro though…..always love that build up. As for the lead, was never going to be CB, but I reckon he went all right.

Thank you for uploading this. Saw you guys playing last Monday in Brisbane. Can’t say that I was entirely happy with Mark as a singer (not that I had expected a Chris Bailey clone, but I think his voice and way of singing was just too different for my personal taste). Still a great opportunity to see you and Ivor performing all these great songs from the first three albums (that I still have on vinyl, bought „Stranded“ as a thirteen years old in Germany). Keep on playing! Thanks again
