The sneer from Chris after the lame stranded gag from Molly Meldrum is priceless.

If anyone was a real punk it was Chris, a total disregard for the fashions and labels of the music business, always going on his own uncompromising way. RIP.

Sad that they weren't able to get back to Australia before the split. The UK public at that time thought every punk band was like the Sex Pistols (spiky hair, leather trousers, safety pins, gobbing) and the Saints were too smart and had too many influences to fall into that trap. Vale Chris, you did well. And props to Molly Meldrum for asking good questions instead of the lowest common denominator.

Many UK punk bands didn't look like that at all: The Stranglers, Buzzcocks, The Jam, The Clash etc.....

@@annaforehan7784 Punk's not a one dimensional genre. Obviously they had many different influences, but definitely had a Punk sound in the early days.
@annaforehan7784 Жыл бұрын
@@theselector4733 Of course it's not a one dimensional genre, at least in the sense that a diversity of bands would claim to be "punk", but the Jam were not in any way a punk band. They were a "new wave" band for want of a better term, with a strong Mod influence, both musically and visually. I'm sure Paul Weller would agree.

Stranded...I must have played it a thousand time...more......rough, course, three chords...perfect!! RIP to Chris Bailey, who sang one track that, to me, is immortal.....and quedos to the boys of The Saints!....especially the enigmatic , sun-glassed drummer, Ivor Hay
