You don't need a base coat under color if the product is going on a filed surface or a tacky layer. You will have to test your top coats with your gel polishes. Not all are created equal. I prefer Luxio top gloss

Hey it’s me again…I’m having some issues trying to use trinity. When my client returns their polish is flaking off and the product seems very gummy when I go to remove for fill. Maybe that’s just the difference in feel of the product from changing from acrylic to hard gel. Am I not curing it long enough possibly before putting the polish on? Again I’m new to hard gels. I’ve never had a problem with the polish flaking or peeling off when I’m using acrylic.

That sounds strongly of an under curing issue.

@@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz hey there it’s me again! Can you help me with some trouble shooting concerning trinity? I just don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. I prep,well and lay down a thin layer of trinity and then polish. But when they come back and I go to remove the polish the trinity just pops off in large pieces. I thought this layer was supposed to stay on and then refill the growth area but it’s all coming off in pieces especially at the free edges. My bit will catch a piece and it will all come off. Am I putting to thin a coat? This is for like a 30 day mani. I’m sorry to keep bothering you.
@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz2 ай бұрын
@@PurpleRocks31for sure sounds like it’s not bonding or curing properly. I’d need to know what’s under it. Are you putting it over acrylic or on the natural nail. Acrylic won’t bond well so if it’s not sticking you need to remove that. If it’s on the natural nail, how are you prepping? What are you using the cleanse the nail? Are you using primers or other bonders? And last what lamp are you using to cure with? All of these can cause significant lift if they are an issue.

Could you have use natural pink here where you built the new nails? I get so confused with the diff gels and when to use what. I’m new to gel. Old school acrylic tech here.
@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz2 ай бұрын
Yes it’s a builder gel. Which you use will be your preference depending on how runny you like to work or if you like to work with a thicker gel. The hardness matters also. I like the hardness of natural pink for extensions but it does get hot so you really need to know how often to tell your clients to come out of the light so they don’t get uncomfortable heat spikes

With So Sticky, the gel doesn’t bond well to the tacky layer of gel polish. This is what I use for full coverage foils now. But with stick it which is what I use for metallic foils, it can go right on the tacky layer.

So you do apply the luxio base after applying the trinity? I think that’s what you said in this video…
@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz3 ай бұрын
No never. Base is only needed if you are applying to the natural nail. When you apply Luxio over Trinity, you just apply Trinity then go straight to color. Trinity has a tacky layer which allows the Luxio to bond. Do NOT wipe off this tacky layer unless you file the entire nail. Luxio will also stick to a filed gel surface.

Do you do any clients with just a plain gel mani where you use reg base and color? Or do you use the trinity on everyone? I’m new to hard gels. OG acrylic tech here. Would love to change all my clients over to hard gel. I’ve been doin regular gel manis using just regular base coat sometimes 2 coats and color and top. Now I see this structured mani is quite popular. I just purchased the entire luxio line and I’m having a learning curve with it. At first I had a lot of shrinking immediately before I could even flash cure it. I always had my clients wash their hands before I polished and maybe the soap or something was causing it. So I cut that out and it has helped that issue but now I have never had to chase after gel flooding the cuticles like I have with this brand. I know Dayna B does a flash cure after each nail but I don’t see you needing to do that. I don’t know what going on. Lol. I’ve been a nail tech since 1992! Is it because the gel is brand new and it needs to thicken up or something? I am stirring each bottle once as I use each color. It’s draining me crazy and I dropped several thousand dollars on this brand. Any tips?
@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz3 ай бұрын
I do not have any base-color-top gel mani clients. Removing and reapplying constantly to the natural nail is not good for them! Gel manicures like that should only be done on people that get their nails done once every few months, not have their nails done all the time. If their nails are done all the time you should use Trinity as a base and keep the natural nail protected. It can be a quite thin coat but when they come back in and you file the color off it keeps the nail protected. Not sure who you purchased the entire collection from. They should have told you some key tips. Like stirring a new bottle. When you use a new bottle it’s really helpful to use a spatula and stir it instead of just shake it. Stir, then pound in your hand a few times. I do this on a few videos and show what to look for when you open a bottle that maybe hasn’t been mixed in a long time. It likely just needs a good mix and it won’t shrink on you. Once this has been done you likely won’t need to stir again if it’s used even once a month. It’s when it sits for months on the shelf that the clear starts to separate a bit from the color and sits on top, and this causes the shrinking. So stir, pound in your palm, and you’re good to go.

Hi Jess i was recently at the nail store and they told me i dont need to use base gel for enhancements just prep and prime. I am wondering if primer or bonder is more ideal for gel nails. I know they are both kind of different but the same. Thanks 😊
@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz6 ай бұрын
Oh goodness. The last people you want telling you how to do nails are the people at the counter. It totally depends on the product. If it’s a 3 in one gel it should have base or a bonding gel as part of it. These gels will always be runny. If it’s a builder and not a 3-1 it will absolutely need a bonding gel. Primers are optional. I’m not sure what you are calling primer and bonder because lots of products get these names. There is acid primer and sticky primer. And there is ph balancing bonder and gel bonding gel and those two are completely different
@raya746 ай бұрын
@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz omg so confusing! I remember you said no lift nails is actually a dehydrater that microscopically etches the nail so now I don't consider it as a primer. I only consider primers that actually say primer on the bottle. I know base gel and bonder names are used interchangeably. But bonder such as ibd bonder or bond aid actually act like a double sided sticky tape for gel adhesion. Maybe some base gels have adhesion too but im not sure? It's all very confusing. I'd love a video to clarify. But the guy who owns the nail salon said that base gel isn't needed for enhancements such as sculpting nails only on natural nails before gel polish which makes sense too but I would think a bonder or primer is always necessary (or both?)unless like you said the builder gel itself contains it like the one you use
@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz6 ай бұрын
I know! The problem is because companies just use words so interchangeably not respecting that others may think of it as a type of gel instead of a name. No lift IS a primer - it’s made of methacrylic acid which does the microscopic etching and dehydrates. It’s the original kind of primer that’s been around like 40 years. Sticky primers, that are like double stick tape, (protein bond, akzentz Affixit, tack) all don’t dehydrate so if people had thought primers for 20 years meant product that dehydrated the nail then adding and calling it a primer confused people. But that’s what happened. Most of the time people understand when it’s a sticky primer vs dehydrating/etching prep primer. When it comes to bonders that’s another nightmare because lots of companies called their first layer of hard gel “Bonding Gel”. Gel polish did not exist. So when gel polish came out the name of the base coat emulated that of traditional polish which is also called Base coat. It’s not horribly confusing except when people call it the “bonding” layer when for many that means you are using a hard non porous gel and not gel polish. So that’s the crazy of our nail world. We don’t run it, we just live in it and have to roll with the punches. 😂
@raya746 ай бұрын
@RealWorldNailsLuvNailz that is so true ! Lol thanks for your response :) I think in the nail world it's a lot of testing, trial and error to see what works best and what products can be used together.
