Full Set of Gel Nails - Start to Finish - Akzentz with Foil Nail Art

Was excited to see this client! I hadn't seen her since before covid when she was preggo with baby #1, and now she has 2!
This full set will be nice to get her nails back into shape. In the coming months her nail beds will start to elongate a bit as her nails get healthier (I know her nails... I'd done them for years!).
I sculpted this full set easily with just 2 products: Akzentz Trinity and Balance Clear. Applied Luxio Jaded and Endless for color. Use SO STICKY for application of foil AFTER wiping the sticky coat off of the gel polish. File edges and finish with Trinity over your Foils, and regular Luxio Top Gloss over the color.

Not needed when you use Trinity first. It’s your hard gel base coat. Better protection. Stronger nails. Bond built in.

Absolutely! I like the color of the Trinity Neutral - its such a pretty color! Don't forget you need bonder under Balance. Many love to just use a quick application of X Bond.

Why is this tech using the flame bit to take off the shine and then going and using the hand file as well? That's not good for the nails. A new set should just have surface shine removed. The flame bit took care of that. The hand file was to much.

This is not a standard shellac gel manicure and thus prep will be done as though it was any other enhancement designed to stay put. The flame or pointed football bit is designed to help losen and prep under the cuticle. It certainly doesn't prep the rest of the nail. It is also good to use the top of the file to again push back cuticle again, this procedure allows clients to have almost no grow out for 2 weeks. Proper prep like this assures clients can go a month between services without lifting while not requiring primers and with minimal growth. It is fine for the nails as they are being properly prepped. If you are doing nails where you are constantly soaking or removing product, then you would be prepping like this every time - which would not be good for the nails. As this is done this way, the product stays perfect protecting the nails. After 20 years of doing nails, I am well versed on what is proper prep for these kinds of nails :)

It should. I flash cure our Trinity colors too. But you wouldn’t want to flash cure gel polish as it can cause it to wrinkle.

It’s good for regular polish and if you have lots of time to wait. It has to air dry and needs to be put in a surface that doesn’t have sticky gel.

I don't really recommend efiles non-professionals as its too easy to make a mistake. The e-files professionals use run around $500 and require yearly. maintenance.

For cleaning brushes, you said just give it a wipe, as in dry? No alcohol or anything?

There is typical a bit of alcohol on the wipe. Its not soaking wet, but damp. This helps clean it best.

@@no3miiiz Yea it does. get your gel into the brush and work it a bit. If it doesn't get supple again you may need to replace it. At least these brushes are quite inexpensive. I use it for all fills, so mine usually doesn't get stiff unless I've been gone and not working a few weeks

Is it ok to file gel nail polish if the polish pools a little in the sides?

You can and you should. Why? you may find that it pooled so much that under the top layer it is not cured! You can see this and fix it. If you don’t fix, your client will probably be messaging you from home. But if it’s just a little then it won’t do that and filing will help fix the shape. If this happens to me I try to catch it before the gloss step.

With all due respect and not said rudely, LED in nail lamps are UV emitting light diodes, you cannot cure any gel polish without UV light, its CFL UV or LED UV (cured on different UV spectrums), but its not LED or UV lamps in the nail industry. Its amazing how many students are taught this incorrectly and then the information gets passed on, etc As an educator, you shouldn't have to dumb down the science behind nail lamps, one of the 1st things we are taught is UV light cures gel polish, by saying LED or UV you are making sound like LED Nnail lamps are not a UV light source

I purposely didn't mention Hybrid lamps to not confuse the topic, which are UV lamps curing lamps too using different wavelengths on the UV spectrum, to be really accurate they may also access and cure on some of the VL spectrum too

UltraViolet light covers 100nm-400nm. That doesn't help anyone when they are shopping for lamps. "UV" lamps are considered one style of lamp that has been around since gels have been around. "LED" gels are obviously newer lamps and designed to cure gels at 405nm - which is in the visible light spectrum and produce a violet hue but is actually no longer in the ultraviolet spectrum. For those who have been doing nails since long before LED lamps came on the market, we used UV lamps long before the LED lamps were put out and gels designed to cure in ultraviolet light around 340-365 (which was the nm of an old 9watt bulb). WIthout doing an entire lesson for people on the differences between gels that cure in one wavelength vs another wavelength and how gels that cure in a newer LED lamp won't necessarily cure in an older UV 36 watt style lamp. As an educator who has taught gels for 20 years, it's vital to realize that not everyone has a thorough knowledge of the differences between an old style 36watt UV lamp, a hybrid led lamp and a non hybrid led lamp. If lamps had been sold as 365nm or 405nm lamps people might understand the difference between the two, but it still confuses them that a lamp that cures at 365nm WILL cure a gel designed to cure at 405nm, however it's not the same vice versa. People may not realize that gels designed to cure in 365nm will not cure in a 405nm lamp. This is why hybrid lamps are important in the event that people still enjoy "UV" gels as opposed to "led " gels. First you might want to study the ultra violet spectrum so the science you are speaking makes sense. Most people are only buying LED lamps these days, however one of my favorite gels is a UV gel - and will not cure in a LED lamp unless its a hybrid lamp, as it requires true ultraviolet light at the correct spectrum.

I wrote this because it is important that people know that LED 405nm lamps are NOT emitting UV light, as it is beyond the spectrum of UV, they emit violet light because it is in the visible violet light spectrum.
