That is how it is here in America most of these girls who, like these K-pop artist in America are mostly overweight and obese, that’s who make up most of the fan based in American K-pop pandemonium because they know they’re not dating these kind of guys in real life because I hate to be rude guys don’t want obese and overweight girls so they fantasize about these K-pop boys because they’re not dating K-pop looking guys or tall guys with muscles and money in real life and these boys and girls will not have to worry about their looks if it was not about fandom because overweight and obese girls want handsome guy, tall, slam, muscles, famous, or not so my thing is BTS 17 all these people were overweight they would not have made this a phenomenon. It is not healthy to be skinny skinny, but it is not healthy to be overweight either so maybe these fans especially in America needs to understand you want someone who’s healthy and in shape as a man they get healthy and in shape, the hypocrisy here in America is the problem. That’s what lead to depression. These artists feel that they have to be perfect but if bts and these other K-pop artist were overweight they would not have made this phenomenon and they know it. So does LOOKS have something to do with it. You don’t have to kill yourself because of depression, famous or not get the help you need. It is OK to reach out.

Mistreatment also happens in other industries in U.S. Music and in others. Also SA and other horrific crimes in Hollyweird. I feel sorry for everyone who has gone through stuff and are going through stuff today. I pray for you all to be free and heal. Stay strong. In industries and in general.

appearance wise there's definitely a divide because men don't have to be skinny skinny, they have to be fit, meaning a lil havier but with muscles and abs which is 100x easier to control, vs the pretty girl standard, which is thin asf

I can't STAND Amber but I'm so thankful she spoke up about this. The kpop industry is so horrible I will never understand why anyone would want be an idol. Especially a female idol. You can never please the industry as a female idol. It's so insane how idols aren't even humans. The moment they're under the spotlight they're a doll. I don't know how many deaths it'll take kpop stans to realize that THEY'RE the problem. No, it's not just the companies. It's you guys. You guys set these insane standards for kpop idols and expect them to live up to it then get mad when they can't do things that aren't humanly possible. Idols have emotions. They can't seem happy all the time, they can be confused, they can make mistakes, they can raise up their own flags, they can make a mistake and not see someone greeting them. Another suicide will happen as the standards continue getting higher and higher. And you guys will make your edits for a week, say your condolences, blame the companies then forget a couple days later. You'll say "Oh idols are humans 🥺" or "protect __." Then go right back to talking shit about the ones you don't like. Know the difference between hate and criticism. Stop sexualizing idols, stop treating them like newborn babies, hold them accountable, realize they aren't perfect, and stop having parasocial relationships with these strangers. Idols are not your besties that can do no wrong. You do NOT know these people. If you want to start treating them like humans then treat them like you would any other person. The industry killed Sulli and all the other idols who have taken their lives.

For girls out there who dream to becomes idol, think more than 100times, it is as good & happy as you think ? More than sacrifice & struggles. Even maybe that not the real life you wanted. Can You Handle what company set the rules, can you handle toxic netizens, can you handle all the criticisms, can you handle many people try to put you down, can you handle comparison to other members, can you handle to see other member may lock good than you. Other member popularity more high. & many more.. 😓 Coz, we can see it’s possible for industry be fair enough to the artist.

I don't think it's easier for the guys, and this interview almost feels like an agenda. This woman talks about hair length when she was the tomboy the whole time. Why bring up the guys all the time like it's the oppression olympics ? It's only 1% of mostly men and a handful of women that control everything. 99% of these celebs have no say, man or woman. If you're gonna bring the guys up, why not acknowledge that they have to watch their weight, that their height matters, that they're szxually harassed by older women? That they must always shave (no beard or mustache), can't have gfs let alone marry someone they want (sll h3ll breaks loose if she's a foreign wife), that their hair matters, their features matters, that the military while very important hinders their careers, and that they unalive themselves just as much? That they lose their careers over lies that get exposed when it's too late? For every Sulli, there's a Jonghyun (Shinee). Can she also acknowledge that the fangirls are the bodyshamers of kpop, and the industry takes notes to appeal to them? Either way, talk about your issues only as a girl, or be honest about both sides if you're gonna bring them up. It was low key misandrist, and that's just as problematic. This is not a competition. Imagine an indian person constantly comparing their challenges to a middle eastern person? What would that low key imply? Exactly.

The Korean pop bands are made to look young and feminine even if they are males- lots of makeup and no facial hair. and very cutesy, not too hip or bad ass. They just need to come to America and then they can look like they want to. Of course, I know this isn't available since they wouldn't have Us citizenship.

So much of what she says is so very true. To be honest, when i first started listening to k-pop, i did feel that probably as a female I wont fit in any of the fandoms. Because of how perfect the female idols carry themselves, luckily I came across artists like Amber, Jessi, Mamamoo, who were direct, blunt, straightforward and did not hesitate to have male friends. After being introduced to them, i felt a little more comfortable being a kpop fan. Another point i would like to bring out is how unsupportive companies are to the idols. Hate comments, rumours, these idols have to fight such battles own their own, i feel the companies are purely feeding on the idol's popularity and monetary growth. Rest of the battles are fought by the idold and idol groups solely. Like why cant they date?, why cant they be married? why are they treated as if they are public property?

Lol…dark side. The only K-pop idols that always end up betraying their group and bad mouthing them behind their backs despite their fame and success due to the k-pop experiences are the Chinese members. These facts well represents national characters of each country. No wonder why they are so much “shunned” by everyone all over the world.

I commend Amber for speaking up about the industry and what idols deal with all the time day in and day out. No one should have to be constantly critiqued to where they essentially lose themselves to fit in a certain mold for the industry. The fact that some develop anxiety and depression even as YOUNG TRAINEES is sad and needs to be stopped. I know that Jonghyun had dealt with depression since he was a young trainee and it is sad to hear about. Sulli, Goo Hara, Jonghyun, and many more didn't deserve all the pressure that they were under. I hope that Sulli, Jonghyun, and anyone that has taken their life from the pressure of this industry has found peace. 🙏🏻🩷🙏🏻💔🙏🏻🩷

The last part tho. 🙄 Well, human are born to be jealous and also making comparison, what more if you a celebrity a public eye. If the celebrity wish to live their own life as they wish likewise others will also do the same to be jealous, envy, dissatisfaction, comparison to one another and that what Human do and that their life. So when your foot are stepped into the celebrity lifestyle. You should have already have had a strong EQ!!!! Simple!

The darkest side of Kpop is the human trafficking and sex slavery going on especially exploiting young girls in the South Pacific Asia ... Constantly getting covered up and swept under the rug by Korean officials ... There are Jo-Pok (mob) ties as well as Elite society(Chae-buls) within Entertainment industry being involved ... BigBang’s Burning Sun Scandal was absolutely nothing and tip of iceburg to what really goes on to this present day and getting worse
