I don't have many Dinky Toys but recently found a nice Pullmore transporter. Great to see it in this early catalogue - Thanks!

How did you do the underside?
@willydahm-di1rx2 ай бұрын
I saw it first and then I mainly use a angle grinder with a sand disc (stainless steel sanding disc) to make the shape.

I've only got 360p video quality on this end -- it's a shame your work is not HD. 😢

Instead of mechanical paint removal (and the risk of damaging the cast zinc), try using a chemical stripper. It has to be safe for zinc of course
@Hjerte_Verke3 ай бұрын
First comment! Have you or anyone done an improvement to these Hubley cars in regards to using machine screws instead of the coarse self-tapping screws? I'm not crazy about the self-tapping screws and was wondering if it was feasible to tap the axles for metric or imperial threads and maybe even add hex head button screws on the wheels. Hex head screws would give a marginal improvement to the appearance of the "hub caps" over the obviously non-scale slotted screws.

Great to see. I had this catalogue myself, though only had a couple of the models. Living on a housing estate and money hard to come by. Great to see, though.

Superbe ! Mais changement d’image trop rapide, un tel catalogue demanderait à être feuilleté plus lentement, pour pouvoir en apprécier toute la richesse.

This catalogue is not the 1947/48 catalogue (the USA catalogue 1947/48 does have the same cover page, but has other content). This is the first prewar stapled Dinky Toys catalogue UK of November 1939, 3rd Printing. You can see this from the print code on the last page 2/1139/20 (3P). Three printings of this catalogue have been published, also printcode 2/739/10 (1P) July 1939 and printcode 2/939/20 (2P) September 1939. The first 2 Printings with 14 pages and the last with 10 pages. I own all three. Beautiful catalogues of these nostalgic Dinky Toys period. I am a collector of Dinky Toys and Dinky Toys catalogues and gives me a lot of pleasure.

Hi, how did you repair the tip that snapped off? Ours snapped off as well and it seems the rod end screws into the tip which means the screw will need to be drilled out and new screw welded to the rod end?
@willydahm-di1rx7 ай бұрын
I need a hardened drill to drill out tip. One could braze a thread in place. One could weld a tip on the end and clean it up without drilling but would it effect the activator. I doubt it! The company should replace these faulty parts but they do not. "sad" I may weld the piece in place if the broken thread does not come out.

It's a James Bond 007 Aston Martin DB5 Battery operated 11" tin car. Year 1965 by Gilbert/ Aoshin Made in Japan No control box so I'll have to find one or make one! Still trying to work out the machine gun lights as they strain the gears and motor when they go in and out. Maybe why the gears are split and broke. Maybe a faulty design! I'll be another while working this one out.

The Model T Santa Special. I had that model until a rather unpleasant boy at school took it and threw it against the wall in the playground.What was his problem? Some good memories too,the Southdown Gliding Club Triumph was a favourite. Our local hardware shop had a full length display unit built into their counter,stocked with Dinky cars,small boy height. Very clever.

Looks like we're traveling even further back to the happy days. That's the Carefree 50s movement. Especially if it's 1959.
@georgeshelton62819 ай бұрын
I still miss the classic past. Such as the radical 60s movement. Go back to the time when the Monkees were young and alive. This has a strong reference to when Bill Keane never allowed any of his Family Circus child characters age even one year. Was I a bad seed to the Monkees back then, oh yeah? The positive side I like about this educational video is that this presents what all of Paul Restorer's finished work looks like. I'd like to see all of Paul Restorer's finished work again.
