Het dit reeds iewers ander as antwoord genoem... Weghardlopers.... Noem julself Holweggers... Holaffiekaners, of so iets, maar Boer het kopiereg in Suid Afrika, nerens anders nie.... 🇿🇦 Klink

Interesting accent. It's a bit similar to some accents I've heard in certain rural parts of SA. I think they preserved the old Afrikaans accent much better than we in South Africa did. Fascinating.

The history you learnt is so distorted. seems your justice is only for white people. Africans have suffered much at the hands of white colonialist and still do to this day. How much longer should Africans suffer in their only land, tell us one European country that offers Africans land and title to it. Africans have never appropriated any ones land . Africa is reclaiming its history and wealth stolen by Europeans

Baie mooi video.

I've been passively studying Afrikaans (I learn Dutch actively), but these Boers accents are different than the voices I hear today. Is this because the sound of the language changes over time (same as English), or because their accent has changed etc?
@silvisch Жыл бұрын
exactly, and may be influenced by other languages as well. This Afrikaans is the one spoken in the 1900's.

After about 70 years of living there it’s naturally taken on a lot of Spanish influence in terms of accent, probably even more noticeable among surviving speakers today

I was in BA in 1990 and met a woman, Dora MAcDonald. She owned a store, Lembranca in palermo. She was probably around 75 or so. We got to talking an she told me she was born in Santa Cruz I think and that her parents were Boers. I didn't know much about SOuth Africa but on a few other visits she told me a bit about life growing up in Patagonia. I didn;t think much of it until I moved back in 1996 and she was in her last years. wish I would have asked her more about her culture and how they mixed with the locals.

We arrived here in 1903, we then lived in tents in Moolman's hollow/marsh. After that my father moved away to a place that he marked out to live in. We lived there until 1908. My father sold the place and we moved to Pampa Pilala (?). We lived there, we were a family of 10 children. We lived there until 1918 and then my father moved again to Samatin (?). We lived there a couple of years and I got married there. We moved back to Pampa Pilala (?).
