Kind of scary that nobody is talking about the bike on yt. There are so minimum info… I don’t know.. after vanmoof every e bike brand feels… sketchy? Don’t get me wrong I got the afternoon pro and I love it, it’s a nice foldable e-bike but I feel a bit…. Alone? Also not seeing any yt reviews on this thing feels weird since the marketing is clearly for young city people.

You can read a review here www.cyclingelectric.com/reviews/eovolt-afternoon-review The Pro bike just won an award as the best folding ebike and beat brands like Brompton, Tern and Go Cycle as well as many others. There are unfortunately a lot of as you say "sketchy" brands in the folding ebike space just assembling generic OEM chinese parts, thats why they are cheap. Rest assured your bike is made by a proper european brand, designing its own bikes with its own engineers striving to push the envelope of design and quality. Thanks for your purchase and comment

You can ride it like a normal bike without electric assistance. It has a brushless motor.

Had a test ride of an early build of one of these bikes a few weeks ago, I was very impressed. The way you feel the gears change when you apply more pressure when pedalling was very clever and the boost I felt even on the lowest setting was impressive. Does the bike come with the front rack?

I love how it looks, it looks easy to ride and the power system is easy to manage, it looks like it has like a 250W hub motor that will give riders a whole ton of joy while riding the bike.

The motor is providing 250 x 0.25 = 62w up that hill, maybe you're providing 3.5w peddling per kg, say you weigh 80 kg that's a combined 342 watts maybe, that climb alone requires around 380ish watts, so understandable you'd have to stand up a bit to provide some extra power output, and the more the ride goes on your peddling wattage is also going down making it harder, thus the heavy breathing. Good effort. To answer the question no one asked what incline is comfortable without any effort from the cyclist here, its around 5-8%.

It's a extremely steep hill that you wouldn't ride up on a 20" wheel folding bike but wanted to show it can be done with the automatic gearbox 👍

Hi Mike Well you are going from 7 manual gears to 2 automatic gears that may sound like its worse. However the extra torque/power in the motor through the belt drive and the clever way the automatic system works means you have a similar ratio range of assistance. Just when you think id like a different gear the bike does it for you automatically, its very cool. We rode the pro up one of the steepest roads in the UK to demonstrate the versatility of the pro bike. That video is on the channel.

£2000+ is a lot of money, my current regular bike cost me £600 and that was the most I'd ever spent on a bike before but I am tempted by the ebike and I like the look of these Afternoon ones very much. I wonder do you ever have sales or is £2199 always the price?

Honestly the wide fat tyres act like air suspension, handles canal tow paths and bridleways with ease. Also suspension forks significantly add weight, our customer polls always have weight as the most important criteria to them. Thanks for the comment

The max load is 25kg and you can use a child seat if you stay within the load. However we wouldn't recommend it as it would give a rear weight bias to a smaller wheeled bike.

I believe that, the reason of these bikes be foldings, is to be folded, lifted into the back of a car, store at home, which wouldn’t need lots of space, etc.. All good, but why they started to weigh 20+ kgs in time? Although I believe that it’s a beautifully designed very nice bike, with this weight, it loses a good part of it’s ease of mobility.

Most of the weight is in the battery and motor which can't be made lighter with technology right now. The great thing with the Pro is you don't need the battery for it to sit in its folded form. This makes it considerably less weight when lifting 👍 Thanks for the comment

Thanks for the reply, these days I am searching for a foldable electric bike, that’s how I came to know the brand Eovolt. I got stuck between models pro and origins; I am trying to understand whether a 2 speed auto motor hub can be equal to a 7 speed derailleur system when climbing hills. Is it too much asking if you could make a comparison, if I have missed in the videos.

Although don’t want to hijack the subject here; the new Ado Air Pro at 19 kg with 40 Nm, 2 speed auto shift, 5 Nm less than Afternoon Pro, I guess the closest competition. Honestly speaking, I liked the Eovolt bike. Haven’t seen one yet, the only thing making me think of the weight is the stairs which I need to take before putting it in the elevator. The other thing is, I can not understand the equivalence of chain gears to auto 2 speed while climbing. Yeah the videos show they are quite capable.

in 2021 I bought 2 City One 16" bikes. I thought they were expensive at 1200 quid each. With all the innovation and upgrades at 3000 quid I think this is far too expensive. Whilst we have had fun on them, If I had to do it again I would not spend the 1200 never mind 3K. That's me - you do you !
