Great video right up to the end when you do a crazy thing and start sucking on the quick connect to start syphon... Why don´t you use the prime button?? And if you want to start it by sucking like old times you better suck on the outlet tube inside the aquarium 😗👍

@@aheimsvensson1573 thank you for your comment. You asked why I didn’t use the priming button in this video and I will explain why. I am very familiar with Eheim filters and their features as I own quite a lot of them. I find the priming feature very useful on established filters during maintenance, but it takes an average of 6 pushes of the button to start a brand new filter, I’ve measured it. The method exhibited in this video has proven to be quicker in establishing a siphon to fill a brand new filter.

I’m perhaps being stupid but the glass will not quite fit in the vivarium for me. Any help?

Would it be the same principle for the ehime pro 4 +350, and what's the blue sponge called again,and where can I purchase it from thanks 👍
@Igor-q3f4 ай бұрын
I would use the sponge basket between the between the bioMECH and substrate pro. The bioMECH works as a coarse sponge and evenly water distribution, not much as a biological media.

Good video. Oase biomaster is better with pre filter.
@Igor-q3f4 ай бұрын
Biomaster doesn’t well in all cabinets, that’s the main reason I’m returned it. You need to pull it out of the cabinet. On Eheim I just take the top basket out not not moving the heavy filter. Biomaster feels much better built specifically the handle is a big plus, but many are complaining about the air bubbles loosing the co2.

What happens if you keep 3 of them in the same tank? It's not like they'll nip their own species's fins

Mine kept greeting me at the glass and begging for food. I found out he had a worm that looked like discolored camellanus. After 2 treatments at very high doses, the worm did not die. I did an overdose and the worm finally disappeared and now he rests more. I'm still looking daily to see if I see anything protruding from his anus.

Nice vid. How's the noise of this filter ? Any low frequency hum or some impeller noises ?

I found two used ones for a good amount. Will need to replace all the media inside plus sponges. Have you tried any filter media which is good value conpared to Eheim?
@straighttalkingexotics9367 Жыл бұрын
I have kept fish for 20 years now and in that time I have tried many different filters and media. I really like the SubstratPRO because it fits together nicely and forces the water through it. It’s my go to biological media.

Everybody should know that the all plastic valve on pro series sucks. Iv replaced that part 2 times cos of bloody jams. It must be greased or this wil likely happen later. Its cogs inside are not the best design.. When this happens you must use deadly force and chew down to its core. and free up the jam. 😂

clean the pump first time after i bough it with a vision 450 aquarium. Now i know i have to pump on that big button on top to get water circulating again... and i noticed i have already the optimation on my pump.

I got hold of a cheap 400 liter aquarium. The problem is that all the filter material is missing and it is impossible to find what I need on Eheim's own pages!!! Now I'm a little wiser and know at least a little about what's needed - about 5 different kinds of filters, where can I find them cheapest without access to the article numbers??? There are no really good shops nearby plus I will have big problems with very mineral rich water! Have tried before with a 160 liter aquarium and it just couldn't get the water quality...

THE BIGGEST mistake made with a canister filter is using it as a mechanical filter . IT SHOULD ONLY be used as a biological filter ! ALL mechanical filtering should be mainly done BEFORE the water goes into the canister . THE canister is best at CYCLNG the tank cleaning out ammonia, & nitrites . Used this way it rarely needs ANY servicing. IN FACT it is best to just LEAVE it ALONE to do it's thing. Eheim makes a prefilter intake filter OR YOU CAN use any floss filled corner filter as a prefilter . THIS can be changed weekly taking ONLY three minutes.
@joakimdjerv44882 жыл бұрын
Thanks i Ak going to use the same setup.And Add a eheim prefilter😊

It’s takes a very long time and many presses to establish the siphon first time. Quicker to do this than press the button 50 times.
