Why are you using up 3 tires in 9000 miles? Seems a bit extreme. Are you buying a soft compound or something. I’ve ridden 600000 miles since 1970 and never used them up that fast!! I too sold motorcycles for 30 years

One part of the equation people like to ignore when complaining about car tires on bikes, is that car tires are rated for much higher load. Which is great for these heavy cruiser and touring bikes, especially running with passengers and gear. I wouldn't put a car tire on a sport bike but my Honda VTX 1800 runs real good with one. I don't really notice it unless I am at low speeds turning.

I was wondering how this guy unfortunately died on his motorcycle... Then, at 6:25 into this video he explains about his riding. After his explanation, I said to myself... That's probably the reason why he died? Such a shame. He seemed like a great guy and an excellent rider. I'd still like to know the details of the crash. So sad. R.I.P

I have a 2013 K1600 GT. I put Michelin Road 6 GT tires on her and got over 10k miles from them. They handle great and they lasted and they are very quick and stable going edge to edge. I’d get a better motorcycle tire before going darkside, not only for the ride quality but because the bead design on car tires and motorcycle tires is different and I’d be worried in heavy cornering the bead breaking loose on a car tire. This video explains that well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nna9loVveph9r7ssi=mAbNv0oDQr5hkHq7 But to each his own… Keep on riding!!!

@5:39 there may be a difference in the car n moto rims: a second, interior/counter bead. however, moto loads are usually so light that even an ‘inferior’ bead is more than sufficient. howabout super sticky hi-pro car tires?

I probably would not have chosen the ABS wire for the horn power myself. You might be using the horn while you’re also braking hard which might possibly be a problem for the fuse.

Not for me. Try leaning over on a dark side tyre in the wet? Insurance companies don’t cover this in the UK for a reason. No amount of savings are going to be enough to compromise my safety. They might be ok if you like riding in a fairly straight line, but not if you want to have “fun”. Just my take on it. Ride safe and enjoy what you got. Thanks for the video and Cheers. 👍🏻

Most probable cause of overheating in K1600 is road dirt kicked up by front wheel and clogging radiator fins. Clean radiator by removing fan and directing water from hose from rear of radiator. You can also use AC spray foam to help dissolve mud and hydrogen peroxide/water spray to help dissolve millions of bug carcasses. Get "Fender Extender" from Wunderlich and install on front wheel fender. For a company known for first rate engineering design of fender and placing radiator low enough to get clogged like this was a big error. Have owned my current K1600 for more than 10 years and ridden it over 125,000 miles. Video failed to show details of bleeding cooling system which is vital. Otherwise I have watched your other videos and found them helpful

No video on removing air distribution tube in either end of part one (which ends with pointing air tube out) and part two which begins with tube out and broken in the process. Removing air tube seems like it is straight forward but removing it without breaking it is a bitch. Trying heat now as suggested by temciuc

2000$ ? WTF no he is scamming you… I’m doing this exact job tomorrow for a customer, 2 brand new air bags from arnott 511$ cad , + 300$ labour 150$ per side. Where did he get 2,000$ from ????? That is how much I charge to remove and put back in a motor on a e90 chassis and inline 6 cylinder…

Stay away from that “mechanic” he is not a mechanic. The bmw dealership wouldn’t even charge this much. It’s 30 minutes of labour…

Had my R1200R Sport new in 2015, 50,000 miles ago. For a solo rider it's better than a GS 90% of the time, the GS is slightly more roomy for a pillion (assuming they get on over those panniers! The GS has better wind protection for motorway work and the suspension is better for bumpy British B roads, but otherwise the R is the GS's equal. It's far easier to move around and nip about on, and in fact it has was tuned for more low and midrange than a GS and feels more lively.

thanks a ton! I don't have an impact driver to take off the wheel, but was still able to replace my pads just by taking off the muffler on the right side! I also thought I had lost the little cotter pin hole, but by watching your video, I realized I was looking for it on the wrong side of the brake pad hole! Your videos are always so helpful!

Question I am thinking of going dark side on my r1200gs especially since it will never see off road but my question is it fits a 170/60/17 what would be the equivalent in a car tire.. I’m not looking for a thicker tire but something that is just as narrow…any help would be appreciated

My 2011 model remains the best bike Ive owned over the past 50 years. EVery time I called in to the dealer for service they’d lend me the next model in hope! I’d tell them they should never have sold me my bike as nothing they’d offer me subsequently can better it😂

O owned a beautiful blue 2016 R1200RS same bike but full fairings But get a bit dissapointed whit the huge amount of front squat when hard braking, So i learned that i need a 2011 R1200R because of the telelever so i finally found one whit less than 20k on the clock ....

I subscribed. Mine have an issue too but this is the real pads mileage worn. I recently been stopping in a rush several times avoiding to hit the idiots taking over my way is just because they were blind or not being able to see the cars coming from the rear window… I actually had a warn that my mileage is 500 then it decreased to 50 and suddenly bacame 0 when this brake alarm show up

Also after several hard stops from 60 to 0 when I was trying to speed up and almost barely hit the car but brakes worked to avoid it I noticed that my steering wheel started turning right when I press the brake pedal… I suspect I could slightly worn a brake disc itself. Gotta check will see Monday I will check in the service

Tape alone will not hold it in place. Buy overpriced Wunderlich extender. You still need to clean/flush radiator once every year or two. Do not flush radiator in kitchen. Amazing BMW design flaw.

Hi, just saw your video. Just bought a 2012 K1600 GT which needs both tires, rear shock and few other things. So my concern would be about the stiffness of the sidewalls. On a MC tire, the side walls are very stiff which a car tire is not that stiff. So how will that effect the riding long term. Short term is not an issue. What do you think?? And the 185 sized car tire does not seem to be available except from overseas?? And where do you get that spacer ?? Thanks.
