State of Origin is outdated. It was brought in when most footballers came from either NSW or QLD, with the exception of a few from the UK and NZ, in a period when there were no Queensland teams in the NSW comp and NSW bought all the quality players. So when NSW used to play QLD it was always a one-sided affair. This has changed dramatically with NZ and the Pacific Islands supplying a glut of players who don't qualify for the SOO. So it's not the greatest match in the world anymore, just a cash cow for the NRL.
