Why not use a soldering iron instead of having to heat up that stylus constantly?

You should find out who the plumber was that installed that expansion tank hanging from your ceiling; call a different plumber to come uninstall that, then call the plumber out who did in fact install that, and slap the shit out of him with it.

Honestly this is not a good example of how you should be using foam drawers anyway. I wouldn't be punching a bunch of holes in foam to hold sockets. Just get a socket rail or other container. I would make wooden block with a bunch of holes drilled into it to hold the sockets if I wanted to DIY it. That way you can take them all out over to a job in the house or something. It also gives you way more flexibility for rearranging things. Plus not all socket brands are the same size, so really this foam is only useful for this exact socket set. Whereas a rail can take any socket. Foam is better suited to larger items. Just like it would be silly to put all your screwdriver tips in foam like this instead of having them in a case or little tray of some kind.

Thanks for the video! If my house is a new build and nothing has ever been in the garage, would I still need to grind it first?
@doingityourself1336
@doingityourself1336 3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, coatings still need a rough surface to adhere properly. Etching would be an alternative in your case due to the new concrete. If you want the aggregate to show like on my floor you'd need to grind.

@doingityourself1336
@doingityourself1336 3 жыл бұрын
In my experience, yes. Cement and aggregate are the two basic ingredients of concrete. For simple non structural projects like these it's fine. If I didn't have the fibrous admix I would have just left it out.

I get the reason to use Kazan foam for A&P mechanic situations due to the potential for catastrophic results from a misplaced tool, but for regular industrial, vehicle, or do-it-yourself mechanics, the inability to reconfigure your box as you add or removed tools would result in constantly redoing the layout.
@Maroco918
@Maroco918 3 жыл бұрын
I did this to my tool box at work. Too much money it tools and this system makes sure nothing gets misplaced at the end of the day. Reconfiguring your tool box is one option when you get new tools or you just buy a bigger box 😁. Either way, I always recommend that my apprentices do this once they start investing more money into their tools

You could make smaller, modular foam cutouts for each set of sockets. Attach a sheet magnet to the bottom and you'd have a pretty neat way of organising sockets neatly. Many of the solutions for socket storage work, but look fussy/busy .
@DougAlesUSA
@DougAlesUSA 10 ай бұрын
@@js14a I love your idea. Best I’ve heard. Let me make sure I have understood it correctly. Rather than one large foam sheet per drawer, get smaller sheets for sections within the drawer. This way, the addition or change of one tool does not require re-creating the entire sheet. Thats worthy of a patent. 👍

Just wanted to say thank you very much for putting this together. Am weighing the option of doing this in my garage, too. Just thought of a quick question for you ... I noticed that Home Depot rents floor polishers and diamabrush discs. In the HD rental description for the diamabrush disc, it mentions "always use diamabrush coating removal disc 7" with water". It doesn't look like you have a water-capable grinder in the video. Are you using a different size disc that doesn't require water, perhaps? Also, any recommendations for an affordable and effective degreaser (lots of oil stains on my garage floor, too)? Thanks!
@doingityourself1336
@doingityourself1336 3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! If I remember correctly, the 7" disc is for a grinder and is for small areas. You definitely want the full size disc made for the floor polisher. Also, you can use them with water but it's not necessary from my understanding. Water will keep it cooler and make it last longer so they're probably just trying to make more money from each disc before it wears out. I personally think cleanup is easier if you do it dry. Oil stain removers work horribly on old stains. I tried at least 10 different ones, wet, dry, homemade etc. I'd recommend just using a reputable brand and wash it a couple of times, scrub it in and rinse really well. I still had heavy stains before grinding, but the grinding process got rid of them.

Oven cleaner works with oil stains. Spray a liberal amount of oven cleaner on the stain. Let it dwell for 10 minutes. Scrub the area with a stiff bristle brush. Rinse the area. Reapply, dwell, scrub, rinse until satisfied with results.

I think the hoses are connected backwards on the dust collector. Dust should come in from the side, and cleaner air should leave the collector from the top towards the shop vac.

You're right, they were. I swapped it later on. Unfortunately the grinding disc lifts the polisher so high that the shroud is high above the floor and doesn't make a noticeable difference. Good eye though!
