I was told 500 or 550x2.80 fox spring for the dhx2 on the enduro. My weight is 180 is that totally incorrect?

that sounds a little heavy. i'm 190 and running a 475# SLS spring. SLS needs to go about 50lbs heaver since it's a lighter spring than stock Fox springs. i run a 550 RockShok spring, but a 550 Fox SLS would be waaaaay too much. have you used the Fox spring calculator?

Really dig these videos! The Woods, a trail that's been around forever. I first rode the Woods in 1997 on a specialized Rockhopper with DH tires, then rented a Schwinn 4 banger there in 1999. Fell in love with full suspension and bought a Santa Cruz Bullit as soon as I got home! Best decision ever for my beat up carcass Northstar was handing me. Haven't been there since 2000. The Woods was so much different back then. It was rated a black diamond trail.

Im currently running the new Forkaster evo F/R on my full sus trail bike as they are what came stock on my bike. They are super fast rolling but i have noticed a bit of slippage on rocky sections here on the trails in northern California. I still haven't ridden them in the rain on muddy conditions but what I've read they are supposed to hadle quite good in muddy terrain. Also i just purchased two dissectors 1-DD MaxxTerra, 2-DD MaxxGripp along with a DHRll DD MaxxTerra. I plan on running the DHRll on the Front and the dissector on the rear lol the reason i chose the DHRll was because spec wise on maxxis website it has slightly better cornering control and better braking traction compared to the DHF. The reasons i went with the DD version was for the better puncture resistance and a better peace of mind knowing i can hit any line and not worry about my tires puncturing/tearing especially on the rocky sections of the trails as i tend to ride my bike to the trails from my house.
@ShaneScrimager

you'll be happy with the jump in grip and cornering. hopefully happy enough with this over the rolling speed. you may feel you have to keep the bike up to speed / put in a few pedals in the beginning. i still think you'll benefit from the confidence and grip!

hello! if i had to choose between my Stumpjumper and Enduro, i'd choose the Enduro. but... that is type of riding i do, fast / big hits / reeeeeeally pushing myself on the bike. the Stumpy has it's limits but really can handle so much. i don't ride certain trails on the Enduro, just feels slow. but i have mine set up for downhill. if you were to buy an Enduro for your trails, i'd say get the Super Deluxe in the rear and not coil. it'll make the bike a bit more lively on the trails but still be able to press in to some chunkier / faster riding.

I ride park, natural DH and loose rocky enduro trails, and natural trail in SoCal. From your surrounding it looks like you’re in SoCal as well. My Intense Carbine came with DHF/DHR and I feel it is very slow rolling compared to other tires I’ve used when it comes to natural or aggressive trail. My honest opinion, it has top notch puncture resistance, grip and durability on the other conditions I ride. Ultimately, I’m looking for a do it all tire that has speed, grip, puncture resistance, durability, and longevity. I’m sorta interested in running the “Assi” front and rear, but hear its even slower rolling and don’t want to blow cash on tires that will not produce what I expect of them. There seems to be quite a bit of indifference on what works here in SoCal as combo setup. Even here in your comments I see it as well. I’m very familiar with the Specialized tires and have had good results but as of lately they have gone the way of offering a gaggle of tires adding to the confusion. Then you have Continental, Schwbi, and Michelin that offer good comparable tires for the money. Like’d and Sub’d!

Hi Shane, after some months with the stumpy comp alloy, with pike ultimate at 150 on the front...i'm at the point to look at the cascade link. Because with stock link and oem fox dps, i need to bump like 20 psi MORE than recommended PLUS a bigger token 0.8 instead stock 0.6. I got the bottom out resistance, but i lost small bump sens ( i feel the stiffnes of rear end on the rocky terrain) . i'm at 73kg with gear and at 200/210 psi instead 185 recommended from specy. So i'm here to ask: do you really suggest the cascade link? your is the only review on youtube with the stumpy. so i'm asking you becasue it's a bit pricy... like with 50/100 more bucks i can get a new RS super deluxe... but maybe only the cc link, can give me a better result even with stock dps.... any advice? thanks a lot
@ShaneScrimager
@ShaneScrimager 10 ай бұрын

@XqDezzy10
@XqDezzy10 10 ай бұрын
@@ShaneScrimager thanks for your answer, I will think about it. I don’t cancel the idea of the link because i read everywhere only good word about it, and maybe even with new shock, the stumpy can still remain too linear and blow through travel… btw I’m looking forward for more of your video!! Keep rocking man 💪🏻💪🏻👍

@XqDezzy10 5 ай бұрын
@@ShaneScrimager to conclude, after some months and riding, i've switch to a super deluxe ultimate on my stumpy and it's another wolrd beside stock DPS. BUT i'm still looking for the cascade link, because i'm very curious about it!!! I just asking myself if it's still a big improvement, even if i have a top shock with lsc and hsc to play with. I mean, the benefit of cascade link, goes beyond the "self tuning" with lsc/hsc or with the knobs, i can get same "cascade link" feeling? (most interested on compliance on rocky terrain) have nice ride!

@ShaneScrimager
@ShaneScrimager 11 ай бұрын
i’d choose the Enduro but that because i ride downhill courses and super chunk. the EVO could handle it but not as fast as the Enduro. your decision should be how gnarly terrain will you ride and how fast do you think you’ll want to ride it. both pedal well enough. the Enduro with a coil is heavy, air a bit lighter. i don’t see EVO’s on the runs we ride, only enduros of all sorts. an occasional EVO here and there.

I had 3 seasons on the enduro with onlins suspension - it was awesome. Owned the new mega tower, new nomad and norco range since then. Miss the enduro although the sizing wasn’t ideal for me and found myself needing something between a S3 and S4 at 6”2 height. The new mega tower is very similar to the enduro - I think Santa Cruz learnt a few lessons from Specialized on the development journey. The Norco range is definitely a faster more capable bike downhill but climbs like a slug with poor agility - its a boat. The nomad is a good compromise between all of them. One thing is for sure - I’m getting the new enduro when it finally lands, hopefully later this year. As for tires - the specialized Cannibals are a world class tyre for DH. I’m having Schwalbe Nobby Nic 27.5x2.4 front and rear. I’m totally shredding my trail bike on a pretty rough terrain. Only downside is tires, as they quite often doesn’t give me a solid grip. I’m really impressed by your review and considering to buy Assegai front 27.5x2.5 and DHR II rear 27.5x2.4. So, will those tire width be perfect combo? Cheers,✌🏼

what’s up George! perfect combo, EXO+ Maxx Terra or DD Maxx Terra. they’re just a bit slower but sounds like you have some chunky trails. the better grip will pay for the bit slower rolling. play with air pressure too, fine tune. i’m 26psi front and 28psi rear, perfect for the chunk here. maybe a bit high on the pressure bits it’s to make up for the rolling 🤙🏻 let me know

I have a process 153 and was thinking of upgrading my yari airshaft to 180mm for a budget upgrade before the zeb at 170mm later. Would 180mm be too much?

i have the Zeb 170mm coming this week. i loved my 170 Yari on my 2017 Enduro. if it’s a 10mm jump, not worth it
