I’m sorry every time I see this it upset me. The longest we should go is at least 7 days max.

There’s no such thing as protective style. Please stop promoting this nonsense to black women. Your scalp and hair needs to be washed and it needs to breath. Over time doing this can lead to an overgrowth of Bacteria and fungus, which can lead to hair loss.

This is just plain gross and unsanitary.

I always leave my braids in long and get crazy grow from it. People who have bad diets and don’t eat healthy get all that breakage.

I feel you and I'm with you! I used to leave singles (with extensions) in my hair for up to 3 months, and my stylist would get so mad at me!! I did experience a little dreading, (not too hard to take out with a little patience), but, like yours, my hair thrives and flourishes when I just leave it in braids. Now, for the past five years, I do singles without extensions. I got sick, so I left them in my hair for 6 months before I started taking them down. I was very sick, so I took them down a few at a time, rebraiding them as I went, which took me 3 months to complete. So the last ones I got to had been in for 9 months! And I'm not gon' lie, six to nine months was far too long. It was difficult to take the braids out, and I had some breakage,... but amazing growth! That was three months ago, and now I'm taking them out completely for the winter. I have noticed a little dreading, but the growth has been phenomenal! My hair now stretches all the way down to my waist. I'm glad I discovered your Channel. Your hair is beautiful, gorgeous!

I agree. I can wear protective styles for 3 months. The only reason I take them down is because my hair starts looking crazy. A lot of people tell me my hair is going to fall out. It has yet to fall out. Different things work for different people. My hair grows like crazy under a protective style. My shedding is not that much. It is definitely normal. My hair is soft, thick and curly.

Would you say it would be better to do 2 braid in the hair leave it for 6 months & you get less tangles/matting more length retention???!

Yea I had my hair 8 months never even washed my head bc of depression I didn’t care so basically 8 months yesterday I had one more cornrow n I just finish detangling it took 2 hours to take one corn down and 3 weeks to pull out depression makes a person really neglect n I neglectedddd

😳😳😳😳 8 months I pray I hold up that long sis the longest I've ever leave my hair is for 3 let's say that I think it may be shy of the 3 months a day or two days I wish I had that patients and when I say that I mean I've been dying to see my hair really. That's one of my weakness when I do protective hairstyles but I think I have gotten lazzier if that word makes sense 🤭🤭. But I've had one in for like a month now this week and I started feeling new growths but I am not interested in taking it down as yet. I don't do wigs of anything that is fake in my head but am tempted to I'll be honest. But all in all I wish I can go way longer than the same 3 months maybe try 6 too 🤷 this time I may try it. And I pray that you will be completely free from the spirit of depression in Jesus name. Be blessed

I leave mine in for 6 months each time. I spend too much time putting them in to take them down so early. I do a baking soda and dawn dish soap cleanse each month. I also retwist or rebraid when necessary to avoid harsh matting. For moisture, I use cantu leave in conditioner and doo gro hair grease. The new growth is insane each month. It works for me.
