The problem will be back in 3-5 years without also adding an in-line jumper harness. GM part #84733196 It has some sort of resistor in-line that reduces current rush when parking button is depressed, that was causing a small amount of carbon to build up on switch contacts.

My 2018 Malibu was doing this intermittently and when I went to trade it in the dealer (trying to knock down the trade in price) told me this was a $1k repair. It is actually easier than depicted here in that no 'prying' device is needed (it can also scratch the console). Just pull out the "change pocket" at the back of the console and pull the console up from the hole. Everything else is the same. Tough to solder only because the part and wire is so small. I timed the whole procedure and it took me 10 minutes and 34 seconds beginning to end.

but can you do a video to fix a different glitch? when putting shifter into manual mode then pressing those 2 top buttons on the top of the shifter, it doesn't want to stay in that manual mode. it goes back to regular drive mode even though the shifter is all the back in manual mode. can this be fixed relatively easily?

Someone has probably mentioned. But dip your wires in some flux after you twist the strands together (if it is a stranded wire). Also use 60/40 leaded solder. Unleaded is just difficult to work with. Good iron too. Pinecil is great and priced right.

OMG, isn't it better to replace the wire entirely without any soldering?

I do have another video where I replace it entirely with a cable that plugs into the wall. It still requires soldering the new cable to the board though: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3TdgatjaL2NpqMsi=hzO_CI3WC-9SMXzE

USB generally runs at 5V, while original Wii sensor bars are 7.5V. It would probably still work but the LEDs might be more dim so I don't know if the bar would work as well.

@@Raptor_animation If it was higher than 7.5 volts, that could be a problem. You wouldn't want to burn out your sensor bar

I bought a second hand wii off of marketplace and the seller said I need to replace the sensor bar because the wire snapped. I tried joining it and it doesn't work but as soon as I get home I'm gonna try burning the insulation off and joining. Will update my comment if I got it working Update: working perfectly after burning off the insulation and twisting together. Didn't have isopropyl so I just cleaned them with a paper towel to get the soot off. Thank you so much.

Hi! I found my Tamagotchi v3 back from all this time and I opened it and what the same problem as you with mostly the A button which was hardly working for 2 days and now it just stopped working completely. I have zero experience in tech stuff. Pardon my ignorance but will ethylic alcohol work the same? and do you think that adding a drop of alcohol instead of opening the device would cause further damage? I am afraid I'll ruin it and I dont trust local stores because of previous disappointing experience. Also, idk if you could help me but the sound is not sounding, even though it's on. how could i fix that? thank you for your time!

Nice video, could have been cut down a little bit more, but advice worked. there are only 2 wires in the sensor cable, a red shielded and an exposed copper, then some white string looking thing. An important note here is that the red shielding is like "painted" on the wire and must be removed in order to either solder or twist them back successfully. It won't work otherwise, I tried, and even tried with what I thought had melted/burned off the shielding, but apparently was not all the way as I went back over and burned and cleaned it off with alcohol. Twisted them together and got the sensor working again for my mom's wii. A little tip too is you can expose more length of the wire and only burn the tip off, so the bottom is still red so you can tell which is which.

it's two LEDs 5v is enough or any USB supply would work fine, maybe they would be slightly dimmer but that will eventually blow the LED's for sure.

That's a bit more complicated then what I did......I just solder a USB plug to the battery contacts -- the only thing left to do now would be modify the internal circuit to disable the off-timer. For the power input you could just connect the usb-plug up to a wall-wart running 5V at 2A, etc.
