If you still want to use at the same time one of your synths as a midi input to control virtual synths on your pc as well, how would you do it?

my DS8 crashes (freezes) when editing the sounds for a longer time, or when loading the patches into it via midi. so it seems like there is a memory issue. when i dont touch the editing it works normally. do you know which parts might be responsible for this issue or how to approach this? also the parameter slider seems to have limited range. for unknown reason timbre also affects the parameter input im pretty handy when I know what to do, as I've managed to replace the backlight and modify the battery holder but not sure what to do about this issue? any help would be appreciated
@piercemcintyre13273 ай бұрын
@@racalik sorry I really don’t. It may be too deep of an issue to delve into really. It’s a good thing it works normally though and is playable! When I first got mine it was spitting out a gnarly kind of noise and after I fixed it I kind of missed that noise lol.

@@piercemcintyre1327 thanks for the reply, I kind of have a similar thinking - it's good while it lasts, and I'm aware my time with it might be limited 🤣 found it for cheap, your video motivated me to go for it in the first place!
@piercemcintyre13273 ай бұрын
@@racalikyeah it’s a very cool. Definitely worth keeping and playing around with effects to see where it can go! I wish I didn’t sell it beciase I only got $100 for it. But I guess that’s okay cause I payed $50. I’d say enjoy it because it’s a little gem even if you can’t edit on it.

Hi Pierce, Thanks for the video. I would like to ask you about my problem, maybe you can help me!: I have keystation midi controller connected to midi in circuit tracks, already paired channels between both systems, but the sound from the midi controller (coming from usb to DAW pluggin) in the circuit does not reproduce in the speakers. Could you please help me? many thanks in advanced
@piercemcintyre13274 ай бұрын
@@alfredovillanuavega1708 it’s a bit hard to understand you’re connections from what you describe. The audio from the Circuit is only going to be captured from the audio outputs, not usb. Usb on circuit will communicate midi but it is less preferable because of noise issues, hun from the usb. So I use a audio/midi interface to connect the circuit to a DAW.

Question why would you need a midi splitter? The Merger box has 2 midi outputs?
@piercemcintyre13274 ай бұрын
@@rovenordiales good point. I had the splitter set up though so I could potentially send out to more than two synths

I just found a cheap DS8 and about to do the same kind of thing, already rebuilt the keybed, cleaned everything, and waiting for battery holder to solder on the main board :) Can you help a bit with how to setup the MIDIOX settings ? It automatically goes on the channel 1 ? I have the following sysex files available but not sure how will I have to transfer them : 'DS8 factory data' 'factory patches' and 'stock'. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

hey there, nice video! I don't know if this is helpful or true( didn't test it myself) but if you go in advanced settings (the shift power thing) you can use your midi-through also as a second midi out by pushing the duplicate button to green.. Anyone who can confirm? Anyway, this doesn't mean this video isn't useful, you could probably do 3 instruments combined? Cheers!

Hey really appreciate this video. I've watched it at least a dozen times and I am still having an issue getting audio to play while using the keystep to control the synth of midi 3. I can play it without hearing it like you mentioned in the video. Any is why I can't hear the synth? I believe I have matched your set up except I am using 1 external synth instead of 2. Thank you!
@piercemcintyre132710 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot for the feedback, I’m happy to help. The keystep needs to match the midi channel of the synth of course. It’s just going through the thru port, if connected directly with out the circuit in the middle? Try the different orientations of cables until you find out where your note messages are blocked

I have a handful of synths, my mininova was an afterthought, snagged it for the solid vocoder. It's definetly in my top two. I am so happy I sort of lucked into snagging one. It is too much fun and I recently got some boards of canada style patches that sound fantastically analog. The thing can do anything.

Is there a way to do this and still have the circuit be the master clock, while still being able to use the arp and sequencer on the keystep? Currently thr keystep has to be the master because putting midi out from circuit to the keystep in the configuration causes a midi feedback loop

I dont want to make your head explode, but.....each scene is made up of 4 patterns.A01 B01 C01 D01. This is S01 by default. When you commit to S02 you are now using patterns A02 B02 C02 D02. So you're on S01. you can hold A and + or - to scroll through up to 99 patterns. You can hold down B and + to scroll through 99 patterns. Any scene can be assigned any pattern. S01 can be made up of pattern A01 B99 C52 D14. Oh and patterns can be any length you want. Independent of each other.
