Calling spinach an AI scrum master is a misnomer. As you said, Scrum Masters are more than process owners.
@Knacki42
@Knacki42 3 ай бұрын
Well, first Spinach wants to connect to a lot of company systems to suck information. My company won't allow this to happen, especially when the data will be stored outside Europe. So unfortunately I won't be able to try out the software.

Great video Stephen! Your advice to focus on people skills over process is spot-on in my opinion. AI will quickly take over tasks that can be automated, which frees up time to focus on work that requires emotional intelligence. Imagine spending your day planning, coaching, negotiating priorities, clearing obstacles....not writing agendas, taking notes, confirming details, writing status reports, or updating tickets.

Thanks for such a helpful video. We are planning a workshop next week face to face with the strategy you mentioned in this video. But the comment you made in last that it works with remote session well. What should we do in order to make it useful for face to face session as we are already set up with this strategy.

It seems like you are just scratching the surface... it all comes back to people over process doesn't it! Its not what you do but how you do it!

AI lacks, and will go on lacking, fundamental non-machinable things such as empathy, emotions, wisdom, without these AI may get better and better at reducing routine work not the magic of human nature behavior. This is not a game of chess where a learning machine can out-play you :)
@peopleoverprocess
@peopleoverprocess 11 ай бұрын
Hey Aras. Yes completely agree! Unfortunately I think many people find themselves in roles which end up mainly being routine - even ones that in theory should not be like a Scrum Master. I think that is the challenge, which is to leverage AI to do the heavy lifting of the routine work, letting you lean into the non-machinable things (at least for now!)

Agreed Stephen. Its the speed of the transition that is going to take people and organisations unawares. An interesting couple of years ahead!

Thanks Stephen. I have certainly seen some of the toxins in both team and family life. What do you think is the best way to address these in a team environment? Do you bring it up in a retro? And or play your video to see if anyone can identify ?
@peopleoverprocess
@peopleoverprocess Жыл бұрын
I think calling it out (and recognising in yourself) is the first step. Its not easy though, and very confronting. When it takes hold in a team or in an organisation though it really can be really tough to move on from. And of course playing the video is great idea too! 😁

Love the tips! Really great advice, it's great to see a focus on how to make meetings more effective for the 'new world' of virtual and hybrid meetings (online, with some in the office, others remote from the office). One thing I think it would be worthwhile emphasising is that the 'old tips' for more traditional workshops/events still very much form the foundation of a good online meeting. Be prepared, have a clear agenda with purpose and objective, ensure everyone is aware of them, have a mix of activities (which aligns to "Change something, ANYTHING(!) Every 5-7 minutes), have parking lots, have a dedicated facilitator, etc. By building on those and adding your virtual tips, hybrid workshops will be much more successful :-)

Thanks Brad! Really good points. Just because this is new doesnt mean all the old stuff isnt really important too (but for some reason seems to get lost in this medium). I think the next big challenge as we return to work is how to cope with the hybrid model which really is tricky to get right.

Stephen - great video ,very thought provoking . The first company /employee conviction as a result of what was monitored MS Teams may be very clarifying. Loving the Scottish Accent - did we ever mix in the same crowd back in Glasgow? 🥴

Trust is a two way street. Should you trust employees that interact a lot via Teams less or more? Most of our jobs are not directly associated with interaction tools, depends on the role. In my case it is simple, either i meet my billing %age per year or i don't. There is usually some better metric to use for a role.
@peopleoverprocess
@peopleoverprocess 3 жыл бұрын
Its a really good point, metrics and what to measure is going to be key. The switch to "outcomes" rather than "outputs" will be important (like yours). Then how you actually get there is up to you, an whether that is a huge amount of interaction or hardly any does not really matter.

Trust? This goes against every study I've ever read. People are inherintly more productive within physical groups. This applies to all workers: management to the assembly line. Working remotely is fine for a small list of tasks, but these jobs are far and few between.
@peopleoverprocess
@peopleoverprocess 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Tony. Its true historically being physically together has been more productive but I think the lines are blurring these days with the huge advances being made in technology. I think you also have to balance in the 20+ hours a week not commuting into the equation too. Over the last year we have all been in this giant remote working experiment and we've seen some amazing successes of what is possible across many industries and some real failures too - interesting times ahead.
