shouldnt Q10 be D? since if it is C then chloride should be formed at the anode not oxygen
@ak27ara
@ak27ara Ай бұрын
@@xx-zp4or It’s mentions “dilute”. If it’s a dilute aqueous solution, then the products will ALWAYS be hydrogen (at cathode) and oxygen (at anode), regardless of a halogen present, or a lower reactive metal than hydrogen.
@DrMonaSeif
@DrMonaSeif Ай бұрын
The answer is C: Halogens only discharge if the solution is concentrated. In case of diluted solutions (OH)- ions are attracted to the anode and oxygen gas discharge instead . (D) is wrong because it's molten potassium oxide . Potassium will form at the cathode and oxygen at the anode. If a metal less reactive than hydrogen is present it will be discharged instead of hydrogen

The oxides that react with water to form acid or oxides that react with a base to form a salt are known as acidic oxides. The oxides that react with water to form a base or oxides that react with an acid to form a salt are known as basic oxides. The oxides which neither react with acids nor react with bases are known as neutral oxides. The oxides which react with acids as well as react with bases to form a salt are known as amphoteric oxides. Carbon monoxide neither reacts with acids nor reacts with bases. Thus, carbon monoxide is a neutral oxide.

@DrMonaSeif
@DrMonaSeif 2 ай бұрын
*A is wrong:* It describes an acid-metal reaction, not an acid-base reaction. *B is wrong:* It describes a precipitation reaction, not an acid-base reaction. *C is wrong:* It involves a base and a salt to form a precipitate, but it is not a direct acid-base neutralization reaction.

6:11 in q10, the multiplication that u told doesn’t work with the ions in silver nitrate as it’s a different number (3.01 x 10^24), so what the purpose of the ions in silver nitrate and how did they calculate that?
@raidm1838

cuh u just have to multiply the Avogrodas number with the numbers of ions in 1 mole so Avogrodas number * ion in silver nitrate(which are 2 ions) = 1.2 * 10^24 - for 1 mole and for iron oxide avagrodas number * ions in iron oxide (which are 5 ions) = 3.01 * 10^24 this answer is for 1 mole but were looking for 0.25 moles so: 3.01 * 10^24 x 0.25 moles = 7.5 * 10 ^ 23 ez shi
