My bird, named Theo, loves getting help with his pin feathers most of the time. When he doesn’t he’ll wiggle around until you stop

That is just an incredibly beautiful bird. I was telling my wife, there is no way that is random. Someone created that gorgeous bird and its color palette.

It looks like it can be powdered and sprinkled on stuff. Edit: Didn't connect a cuddle bone to a cuddle fish😂😂

What a good guy! As if he knew all you were doing was harsh and even painful, but would later make him healthy and pain free for a long time.

I bite my nails, which means I can't easily get my tiel's pin feathers. So when they come through, I put on some false nails with adhesive tabs so I can properly pinch the tiny pins, lol

How would they do it if humans couldnt help? 🤔

Parrots are social, so if they had another parrot buddy, they could preen each other and get those feathers opened.

Are pin feathers the same as blood feathers? (I don’t know much about birds rn)

Processed foods are hardly better for humans. It just takes longer because we are so much larger untill it takes effect.

Wait so can you help with the pinfeathers on their back or not? Because I’ve heard you shouldn’t touch a parrot anywhere but the head.

All my parrots loved bell pepper in all colors. If given several colors at once, interesting multicolor poops. Red seemed to make things slightly looser. Apples of all types were a hit.

My friend inherited her grandmother 50 yr old bird Papa that would come vet and head butt you for assistance and hold your other hand while you did it. Stg he sounded like he was purring. If it was uncomfy he would shake your hand. We assume this was something the grandmother and he did regularly. He will only allow people he trusts to do it. He knows I’m terrified of him (chicken trauma from when I was little) and is obsessed with making me his bestie 😩 He chases me and says “awww love you” love me from over there please 😂

I love that your family has also played a part in Mr. Shelby's rehabilitation. From experience, I know how key that can be. My husband and I got a puppy a couple of years ago who'd had a bad start in life. He was very fearful and timid. We tried to do a gentle introduction with my parents; we even walked them through the do's and don't's on how to handle our scared pup. Unfortunately, my dad immediately disregarded everything we'd said, and continued to say, and did some serious permanent harm (emotionally, not physically). It's been years and I'm still mad. Just one of the reasons why I'm no-contact with him now. Sorry, that went off a bit. I'm so glad your family has been supportive and that Mr. Shelby is doing so well ❤

Hi so I have a question for you. I have a red factor sun Conure he is about 4 years old. I got him going into high school and I didn’t really play or try to give him any physical touch a lot. The rare few times he lets me touch him now is if he is out of my room (where his cage is). I believe this might have something to do with him being territorial or something. I used to be able to get him to sit on my finger back when I first got him but now he doesn’t really let me do that anymore. I was excited when I first got him but being a typical teenager after a while he was just kind of there. And now being older, I wish I would’ve interacted with him more so he would’ve gotten used to it because now I can’t really do that with him anymore. And I wish I Could. He will come on my bed and groom me sometimes or fly on my head but that’s about it. So my question is what can I do to gain his trust with him letting me pick him up and scratch him and what not?
