Likely the bars of their original cage. When he is in the carrier getting taken out, notice how his beak dip fits perfectly in with the bars. Considering his other ailments, it is likely he was also very bored in his cage to do it so much, for the keratin to have a hole that big in it.

My mom had mental health issues and adopted a bird, Kiki, who looked exactly like Paco. By the time I was 16, I had known Kiki my entire life. He was never allowed out of his cage and was neglected by my mom. I loved him, but I was a child, and I had no idea the extent of the neglect until later on in life. My mom eventually gave him away to someone else and I truly hope Kiki had found a family that truly cares for him. Thank you for sharing this video, it made my day.

never being out of his cage... oh my god! That is truly horrifying! Cause for parrots its necessary to be out of their cages most of the day, they MUST live outside and go inside just to sleep - their health depends on it. I can't even imagine how painful it was for Kiki. Most likely, he\she had many diseases that never been diagnosed and i really hope his\her new owner did his best to help and Kiki didn't just pass away in a few years as it usually happens. I really hope he\she is doing well. People really must stop having parrots as pets when they have no idea how to rightfully treat them. Omg.

@ absolutely. I hope he is doing well. My mother unfortunately collects pets like Pokémon cards and when she is sick of them she gets rid of them. It sickens me every time I think about it. And she did the same to my siblings and I (she had seven kids and despises most of us lmao can’t do nothing but laugh at this point). Saddest part is I’ve called animal services on her and they NEVER do anything.

So I often see a lot of parrots like this in birds shelters, and that's all doctors can do about that - take them out if their owners ask. Especially, owls are in a very bad conditions - it's even harder to treat them. I m really sorry about ur mom, unfortunately, we can't choose our parents and can't do anything. Like, my granny stops me from taking her cat to the vet (that cat has never been in a vet in her entire life, it's especially dangerous cause she is a purebred cat with a lot of problems by default), like "I won't let her to come back to me", she knows that none of use can have this cat because of rented flats or other pets. I really "love" their favorite argument like "well, my previous cat lived 20+ years, and she has been eating only Wiskas and she has never been in vet". Well, u can't explain anything to people like this 🤷🏻‍♀️

Both of these things in an older, ill person is more than enough to not see how long it's been since a pet check up, or how bad the conditions are. Stop judging others when they need empathy. In fact, put money where your mouth is and start volunteering for older folk to do those tasks whose only company is their pet because their family can't be bothered to come see them, or sit down.

I file my cockatoos beak. He was rescued from people who had no idea so had a deformed beak from repetitive movements. What i discovered was that they absolutely LOVE having their beaks filed. He comes up to me and begs me to do it nowdays. I guarantee that parrot was having the time of his life when it was getting the dremel

My girlfriend has an Amazona Aestiva named Rita that she inherited from her grandma, who had dementia. The poor parrot was very mistreated and poorly fed. Not as much as little Paco, here but Rita developed some kind of infection and lost both eyes. So this video hit me hard. Our Rita has over 20 years and after a couple of months of love and good food she is a bundle of love. Thanks to people like you we can give these animals a new life

I was at the local exotic bird shop when an elderly gentleman came in with his wife's bird. I don't remember exactly what species of parrot he was, but he was about the size of Paco, and badly in need of a trim, his upper and lower beak scissored as well as overgrown. I felt bad for the man, who was clearly embarrassed by the state of the animal, and had taken it upon himself to bring him in, as his wife had long neglected to do so. I hope the bird was better treated afterwards.

She said that he was inherited. It’s possible that his owner was old, frail, and ill for some time, until they passed away. They may have done the best they could, for as long as they could. I thought he was sedated at first, then noticed his eyes moving - I can’t believe how calm he was! I would totally expect a parrot to not want any part of it but that little baby was in birb heaven. I have no clue why this popped up in my recommended but thank you for helping Paco. Watching a parrot get a spa treatment was surprisingly soothing.

I would switch to another bit for the Dremel! A metal cone/oval type would be much easier to get into the hard places to reach without it being clumsy. Besides that, this was a great video to watch! ❤️
