I was there in early May, everything was white there then, snow up until my knees. Climbed alone with a stray mountain dog. Didn't reach Guli Peak (the top of the ridge) as there was way too much snow and a hailstorm, so I had to turn around, sadly. Tried to climb one of Ushba's ridges from the Mazeri side, with even more snow. Probably the most beautiful place I have ever been.

Tip - You get Sandflies mostly on the West Coast of the South Island. You need to eat Marmite and Vegemite especially 2 weeks before you come to NZL and they leave you alone.

This wasn't only foolish in that you were completely unprepared with correct equipment, etc. It was disrespectful to the wairua of the maunga. You did some disrespectful things in this video. The summit of the maunga is tapu. You are not supposed to climb or stand on the summit stone, eat or drink at the top. In all, this was a video of what not to do on Mt Taranaki, and why any person visiting Aotearoa should do their research so they can respect important customs. Mt Taranaki is a taonga, and not a maunga to be disrespected like this.

oh shut up lol, god of the Forrest god of the sea god of the sky and God of the gangs in prison, bollocks let's adopt a white god when we understand how stupid our beliefs are , now they're myths, so Maui fished up the north island with a jaw bone and whacked ika a Maui aka the north island aoteroa with paddles to make the mountains and valleys🤔 yeh sure, how many tapu's were broken with all the Maori ( descendants) in gangs smoking and selling crack👈 riding around the neighborhoods with loud motor bikes , smashing bottles on the footpaths their own children walk to school on , tagging everywhere , assaulting innocent people etc Mana?????????

@@sharp14xand if you knew anything about Māori culture, you’d realise that this isn’t just a mountain, it’s a sacred place. So your comment is disrespectful and unwanted - perhaps try growing up a little.

Not a good look coming and running a muck on our pristine beaches. That tour company should be fined ripping up our endangered native dune plants (Pingao).

Been a few deaths on our mountain since this video. So to anyone watching this in 2022 please wear correct footwear and clothes for the seasons. Actually in winter just stay off the Maunga unless you have a death wish. I believe the last person or persons to have lost their lives were experienced climbers too

Every year someone dies on Mt Taranaki. This is why. Underprepared and overconfident. It's NZs most dangerous mountain. The weather can turn nasty and if you slip and hurt yourself you're in big trouble. Thanks for making the video. I'll be sharing it with friends and students as an example of what to do if they have a death wish.
